During this week’s episode of Expert Insight with Dan Clubbe, he is joined by esteemed Liverpool writer for The Athletic, Caoimhe O’Neill.
The focus of this episode followed on from Caoimhe’s article last week was Liverpool’s academy starlets as they prepare for involvement with the senior Reds in pre-season and for some, beyond.
U21 centre forward, Layton Stewart and his development were up for discussion. The Scouser has accrued an impressive 45 goals in 63 matches whilst playing for the academy. Having missed the whole of the 21-22 season following an ACL injury, the 20-year-old is continuing to make progress, including being in first-team training this week.
BOBBY FIRMINO: BEST IN THE WORLD
Caoimhe said:
“Whether he goes to Germany or Singapore, it will be interesting to see where he gets his opportunities.
“I think a loan move makes sense now because he hasn’t been able to experience first-team football.
“I’m hearing there’s lots of interest from League 1 and League 2 as well. If he gets a good loan move, I think that would be perfect for him.”

Redmen Reacts
The Liverpool-born striker has appeared to score goals for fun for the Liverpool youth sides and was well on his way to getting a shot at first-team football within a couple of years prior to a major bump in the road in terms of his development.
Having missed an entire season due to injury, the best course of action for the youngster is to have a loan spell away, to get a regular taste of senior action and develop even further. With whispers coming from teams in League 1 and League 2, it will be very interesting to see where he ends up going and indeed keep an eye on his progress throughout the upcoming campaign.
