This weekend Liverpool FC Women face Manchester City Women away at the Academy Stadium in the Women’s Super League in the last fixture of March.
The Reds have had a tough month with us playing Chelsea, Man City (FA Cup), Arsenal and then Manchester City again. Unfortunately, three out of the four games played so far have ended in defeat but that does not mean that the girls haven’t given their best efforts.

Manchester City are heading into an important fixture for themselves this weekend with Arsenal regaining top spot in the WSL with a win over Liverpool last weekend, this can go two ways for Man City this weekend, they can come out all guns blazing and really give us a tough time or they feel the pressure a little bit and Liverpool manage to take a few of their opportunities and come away from the game with a point or three.
Man City have got numerous players who can cause Liverpool difficulties on Sunday but I think we managed to cope pretty well last time round and even though we got beat 3-0, the score did not reflect the performance that we put in. I thought Nikkita Parris would have caused us more problems than she did and I think Jemma Purfield played really well against her so this weekend she’ll want to grab a goal or two especially since Miedema added another goal to her tally last weekend.
I think we definitely have the players to cause teams problems, we all know about Courtney Sweetman-Kirk and her ability to get you a goal when you need it most. I was really impressed with Christie Murray against Arsenal and think that if she gets the opportunity to play a ball to the strikers or cause problems from a set piece then she can make a big difference for us.
I have also been really impressed with Amy Rodgers in recent weeks, the teenager has been amongst the squad for a while now and has been called up to the England U20 squad recently as she seems to have really settled into the side so I’m hoping she plays tomorrow.
