Manchester United vs Liverpool | Things We Learned

Liverpool go back to the top of the table after a 0-0 draw away to Manchester United.

Sort Of Ok With That?

If you would have told me at the start of the season that we were coming to the end of February and we’re gonna be top of the table after a draw away to Man Utd, I would have snapped your hand off.

It’s disappointing having watched the game and seen Utd have their first-half injury crisis (sort of) and saw how defeated they looked in that first 45 minutes but we definitely did not take advantage of that situation and that is where it can be a bit frustrating as a fan.

Lacked The Final Ball

Thought our passing was dreadful today, makes me wonder what they do in training because ho can you kick a ball every day of your life and then get into a game and struggle?

The final ball really let us down today and that has been noticeable in the last couple of games, it’s frustrating to see because we tore teams apart last season and now those same players seem to be struggling a little bit and can’t get into a rhythm.

I was confused to see Jordan Henderson go off early on in the second half, thought he was playing well for us and I felt that if anyone could pick out that key pass for us when we needed it, it would be him. With Henderson going off I would have liked to have seen Naby Keita come on because he can drive at their defence and be a nuisance for defenders when he wants to be but you’ve got to trust Klopp and his decisions.

Time For A Switch Up?

Maybe it is time for Klopp to pick a new starting eleven?

I feel like teams know what to expect from us now, the front three will always be the best for us but sometimes you have got to give teams something to think about. Our forward line is not the same as last season and I hate sitting here and comparing the players to how they were a year ago but if the goalkeeper, defender or midfielders where performing badly then they would be dropped for the next game but for some reason Klopp doesn’t want to leave either of Mane, Salah or Firmino out.

It may be beneficial for those players to have a breather and be able to watch the game from the bench and let them get their heads back around playing attacking football and scoring goals for us.

Important Game On Wednesday

Today was our game in hand and it would have been lovely to walk away from Old Trafford with three points but instead, we have to look at it as a point gained on Man City.

It’s time to shift focus to Watford on Wednesday and put even more pressure on City because if we get three points, especially with the Derby on Sunday, it can be so crucial for us.

Let me know your thoughts on the game below!
