Mo Salah’s 10 best goals for Liverpool

Although rumours persist of a possible move to Saudi Arabia sometime in the near future, Mo Salah is still very much a Liverpool player for now. There is no doubt that he has made a major impact since arriving on Merseyside in 2017 and has already secured his status as a club legend.

One of the biggest reasons for this is the number of goals he has scored for the side over time. These have often been key strikes to win important football league matches, and awesome goals that take the breath away.

But which are the 10 best goals Mo Salah has ever scored for Liverpool?

1. Record-breaking goal against Manchester United – 2023

This is certainly one that should be included in any list of Mo Salah’s 10 best Liverpool strikes and is even sweeter as it came in Liverpool’s 7-0 hammering of old foes Manchester United. His second effort was a crisp finish, low into the net following a swift Liverpool break into the United box, and was the one that made him Liverpool’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League

2. Champions League penalty – 2019

Although the recent Liverpool 1 – Luton 1 result was not something for fans to remember, this goal in the 2019 UEFA Champions League final was! Salah’s first-half penalty was critical to the Reds’ victory over Spurs and is the quickest Champions League final goal ever. Salah showed great composure to slot the ball home from the spot – with barely two minutes gone!

3. Stunner against Watford – 2018

This stunning strike from a 2018 league match is a thing of beauty and shows why Salah loves taking on Watford. After somehow skipping through a wall of yellow in the opposition box, Salah dummied another Watford player and then sent a blistering shot curling into the net.

4. Manchester City wonder goal – 2021

Manchester City’s status as one of the best teams in the league makes this strike even more amazing and one to remember. Salah initially produced a beautiful touch to turn past Cancelo and then bamboozled Bernardo Silva with a drag back for good measure. A burst of pace to get past Laporte led to a searing finish into the City net to spark wild celebrations.

5. Tottenham brilliance – 2018

This goal perfectly sums up the fantastic dribbling, pace and agility that makes Mo Salah a nightmare for opposition defenders to face. Picking the ball up out wide, he somehow managed to wiggle between two Spurs players and burst into their penalty box. Although Tottenham keeper Lloris was out smartly, Salah had the skill to scoop the ball over him into the net.

6. Long-range rocket against Chelsea – 2019

Salah is known as much for his powerful long-range shooting as much as he is for his rapid bursts of speed. No goal shows this better than his rocket against Chelsea in a 2019 2-0 victory for the Reds. Taking a Van Dijk pass with exquisite control, Salah cut inside before unleashing a curling howitzer of a strike into the top corner.

7. Derby joy – 2017

One aspect of Mo Salah’s play that cannot go unnoticed is his strength on the ball. He used this to great effect when scoring his Puskas Award-winning goal against Everton in 2017. Holding off a defender after receiving the ball, he then used another Toffees defender as a shield to hide his curling strike into the top corner.

8. Champions League semifinal goal – 2018

Although the 2017/2018 Champions League campaign ended in final defeat, the semifinal matches against Salah’s old club Roma were much happier occasions. This goal came from the first leg and was a real stunner. Collecting the ball out wide, Salah cut back infield and hit an unstoppable shot high into the opposition keeper’s net.

9. Wonder strike against Salzburg – 2019

In another goal from the successful 2018/19 Champions League campaign, Salah annihilated his man with his pace down the wing before poking the ball past an onrushing RB Salzburg keeper. Even better, he then somehow curled the ball into the far corner of the goal from an almost impossible angle out wide.

10. Goal against West Ham – 2021

This strike was almost breathtaking in its simplicity and clinical nature. It started with Liverpool defending a corner before Shaqiri hit a long-range pass to Salah on the counter. Taking one touch with his right foot, the Egyptian wizard then coolly lifted the ball over the keeper into the net with his left.

Mo Salah: A club legend at Liverpool

The above goals are certainly 10 of the best from this flying Egyptian winger and show why he has been so important to the side during his time on Merseyside. Although he may well not be with the team much longer, he has left fans with plenty to look back on.
