Article by Anthony Evans – @anthonyevans97Mohamed Salah continues to rewrite the history books at LFC.The Egyptian’s brace against Red Star in the Champions League last week made him the quickest Liverpool player to reach 50 club goals.Salah reached the feat in just 65 games for the Reds, which has surpassed the record set by Albert Stubbins who scored half a century of goals in 77 appearances. To commemorate this incredible milestone, I decided to take a try and pick the “Egyptian King’s” top 10 most memorable goals so far.
  1. Liverpool 4-0 Arsenal (27th August 2017)
The first goal in my countdown is Salah’s first goal in the Premier League at Anfield. With the Reds already two goals to the good, the Gunners started to throw men forward to try and get themselves back in the game. Liverpool cleared a Gunners corner and Salah latched onto a poor touch by Hector Bellerin and ran the length of the pitch from the halfway line before slotting the ball past Petr Cech with his right foot.
  1. Crystal Palace 1-2 Liverpool (31st March 2018)
With a Champions league quarter final tie with Man City and a Merseryside derby with Everton at Goodison on the horizon, Liverpool were struggling to find a winner at Selhurst Park that would edge them closer to securing a top four finish. But with just six minutes to go Liverpool’s number 11 expertly controlled a cross from Andy Robertson and lashed into the net with his right foot on the half volley.
  1. Liverpool 5-0 Watford (17th March 2018)
The Egyptian scored four of the five goals for the Redmen in this game, but it was goal that sealed his hat trick that stood out in what was a fantastic evening at Anfield. Salah picked up a pass from Sadio Mane inside the Watford area, and with some exquisite close control sent three Hornets defenders packing before deftly sticking the ball past an unsighted Karnezis.
  1. Stoke 0-3 Liverpool (29th November 2017)
Jurgen Klopp decided to rest Mohamed Salah for this midweek clash in Stoke-on-Trent, but with the Reds narrowly leading the home side 1-0 he opted to bring on his talisman. It only took 10 minutes for the substitute to make his mark, as he met Sadio Mane’s floated cross and venomously volleyed into the goal from just outside the six-yard box.
  1. Liverpool 2-2 Tottenham (4th February 2018)
In an enthralling encounter at Anfield, the Egyptian star was once again at the double. In dramatic fashion the Reds thought they had nicked all three points in stoppage time when Salah slalomed his way past Ben Davies and Jan Vertonghen and poked the ball past Hugo Lloris to the jubilation of the watching Kopites. Unfortunately, a debatable Harry Kane penalty in the 95th minute meant that Spurs headed back to London with a share of the spoils.
  1. Liverpool 5-2 Roma (24th April 2018)
Both of Mohamed Salah’s goals from the Reds emphatic Champions League semi-final make the list, but it is his second that comes in at number five. On the stroke of half time the PFA player of the year winner raced onto Roberto Firmino’s pass to run through on goal. As the then Roma goalkeeper Alisson closed him down, the Egyptian just simply dinked the ball over him to get his second of the game to put the Reds 2-0 up.
  1. Man City 1-2 Liverpool (10th April 2018)
Just missing out on the top three is another chipped finish from Liverpool’s pacey forward. With the Reds winning 3-1 on aggregate already, Salah’s goal all but secured their place in the last four of Europe’s elite. In a similar vein to Roma goal that made number five, Salah lifted the ball over the despairing Nicolas Otamendi after City goalkeeper Ederson challenged Sadio Mane in the penalty area. He then headed straight over to the travelling Kopites behind the goal and simply stood there with his arms aloft as those around him continued to go crazy.
  1. Liverpool 5-2 Roma (24th April 2018)
The Egyptian’s opening goal against the Italians makes the list in third place. With the game tightly contested in the first half an hour, Salah took the game into his own hands in trademark fashion with a fantastic curling effort into the top corner from just inside the Roma box. It set the tone for Liverpool to go on and score four more goals which gave them a commanding lead going into the second leg in Rome.
  1. Liverpool 4-3 Man City (14th January 2018)
The Egyptian’s stunning strike from distance against Man City at the turn of the year is my runner up. Salah quickly controlled a poor clearance from Ederson who had come rushing out of his goal and from a full 40 yards, lofted the ball over the Brazilian stopper to put his side 4-0 up. Although Man City rallied and gave the home faithful a scare by pulling it back to 4-3, the Reds held on for a massive victory over their rivals.
  1. Liverpool 1-1 Everton (10th December 2017)
Picking the top spot for this was not easy, but I’ve decided to give it to our number 11’s stunning derby day effort last season. After outmuscling Cuco Martina, Salah wriggled away from midfielder Idrissa Gueye before unleashing an unstoppable effort into the top corner from the right side of the penalty area which gave Jordan Pickford absolutely no chance. The goal has recently won the FIFA Puskas Award for the best goal of 2017, so I think there is a very strong case to argue that this goal is our talisman’s best goal in a red shirt so far.Article by Anthony Evans – @anthonyevans97 ???? 16+ PODCASTS P/MONTH ???? 12+ SHOWS P/MONTH ✍ DAILY ARTICLES INC ‘SPECIAL GUEST WRITERS’ ⭐ EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS – INC JURGEN KLOPP! ???? Pre and Post Match Shows
