Napoli vs Liverpool | Things We Learned

Article by Lauren Black -@Lauren_Black9So that happened. Frustrating night tonight but all credit to Napoli who didn’t rollover and let us play. Here are some things I picked up on during the game.Having the best front three in the world doesn’t win you games Not one shot on target that whole game. The front three that where so dominant last season, who took control of every game and tore teams apart just did not turn up tonight. I mentioned last week that Salah and probably Mane needed to miss out on this game and watch from the bench and I think I was right. All of our attacking players performed poorly and I don’t understand why. Nothing has changed about that starting eleven from last season by two new additions in Fabinho and Keita so I’m not sure what happened tonight.Napoli are no joke Coming into this game I was confident, Napoli not the best team although they are second in the league but it’s not exactly competitive in Serie A with Juventus dominating every season. After facing them in pre-season and then drawing them in this group I knew we could beat them and the teams aren’t much different from then so there is no reason why we could not take the game to them tonight and out play them but it turned out to be the other way round.I mentioned in my opposition review that Insigne would be the one to watch in the game and he certainly was. He was lively, causing problems for our defenders and then won the game at the very end for his team after a good piece of play.Carlo Ancelotti has changed Napoli for the better since joining in the summer and I think after watching that performance tonight and seeing what they are capable of, they are a force to be reckoned with this season and they will punish teams.A point would have been great If we would have come out of this game with a point i would have been extremely happy but it didn’t happen. Credit to Napoli who fully deserved the win after their performance but having four points on the board after PSG win would have been nice. However, it is not the end of the world, yes it wasn’t a great performance but we have no reason to worry, we still have four games to go and as long as we are in the top two come Decemeber I don’t care what type of performance we put in.We definitley didn’t perform to the best of our abilities tonight and i’m sure Klopp will be able to discuss what went wrong tonight for us but it’s best to put this performance at the back of our minds and focus on the game at the weekend, a chance to go three points ahead of Man City and really show people what we are capable of.Gomez is becoming a true centre back To end on a good night, I think Joe Gomez was our best player during this match. He seems to have really excelled in this centre back position next to Van Dijk and is making the position his own. He made some excellent tackles and interceptions throughout the game and was always where you wanted him to be, I think he could have tracked Insigne run a bit better but that’s just asking too much of hime to be honest. I wasn’t too sure how he would get on in the centre of defence but i’m pleased to say he has changed my mind. Hopefully his good performances continue and we can have a solid CB for many seasons to come.Article by Lauren Black -@Lauren_Black9???? 16+ PODCASTS P/MONTH ???? 12+ SHOWS P/MONTH ✍ DAILY ARTICLES INC ‘SPECIAL GUEST WRITERS’ ⭐ EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS – INC JURGEN KLOPP! ???? Pre and Post Match Shows
