It’s nearly the end of the season which can only one thing…..transfer talk. Which to be fair, happens all the time. It’s hard to know how busy clubs will be this year after feeling the impact of the pandemic. Many, potentially including Liverpool, might be watching their wallets. Liverpool also have a few contract extensions to sort out for key players with many running out in 2023, this summer will be the time to strike. One talking point over the past few months has been Liverpool’s CB issue and more importantly, how they solve it. Ibrahima Konaté has been heavily linked recently with David Ornstein of The Athletic breaking that a deal to bring the Leipzig defender to Anfield could be very close.

Paul sat down with James Pearce this week to get the latest on the deal and he had this to say…“It’s still not 100% done because that conversation with Leipzig hasn’t happened yet in terms of either negotiating a fee or just straight up paying his release clause. Which I think there is a realisation that is what has to happen. I don’t really see Leipzig letting him go for anything less than that release clause.”James was also quick to point out whilst he thinks it is more than likely a deal gets done we’ve all been here before. Months and months of thinking Timo Werner was done, Nabil Fekir literally in a Liverpool top and yet they both play for different clubs. Klopp likes to get his business done early and with the Euro’s this summer we could see deals done even sooner. Let us know your thoughts on Konaté below.
