Starting XI: How should Liverpool line up against Nottingham Forest?

The Reds are just one game away from another trip to Wembley. Nottingham Forest stand in Jurgen Klopp’s way this time, and they will be hopeful of maintaining their recent impressive home form that left Leicester City shocked in the fourth round.
Liverpool’s confidence should be high having cruised past Norwich City last time around, with the Reds’ fringe players proving that they can be relied upon when called. Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi should, therefore, start this one.
Alisson Becker is expected to start between the posts while Joe Gomez will also earn a place in the XI. Gomez has been unlucky this season competing with three centre-backs who would start for any team in the Premier League.
Here’s how we should line up:
Joe Gomez starts centrally alongside Ibrahima Konate with a return to the squad for Conor Bradley. Tsimikas completes the defence on the opposite flank to give Andy Robertson a rest.
Fabinho and Thiago will also be rested in this one which allows Henderson to move back into the six with Keita and Jones ahead. There’s no need to risk the likes of Thiago in this one with a difficult title chase on the horizon.
Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi come back into the side having been excellent against Norwich, and Harvey Elliott starts from the right-flank. Diaz, Firmino and Jota should all be ready from the bench if needed, while there are some doubts over the fitness of Mo Salah who is carrying a minor injury.
Liverpool’s form should be too strong for Forest despite a passionate home crowd, but I think it could be slightly closer than normal as the Reds deal with what should be a high tempo start from the home team.
