Born 12 May 1996 in Athens, Greece, Kostas Tsimikas comes in at 5ft 10, and a Greek professional footballer currently playing his trade for Greek Super League side Olympiacos, and the Greece national side.
Having worked his way through the youth ranks, Tsimikas made his full debut for Olympiacos at the tender age of 19 back in December 2015, against AEL Kalloni in a Greek Super League game.
One year later in December 2016, he joined Danish side Esbjerg on loan for the 2016/17 season, and made his debut in February 2017, scoring a goal in his side’s 3-0 win. However, he left Esbjerg after 13 games and returned to Olympiacos.
In June 2017, he joined Dutch side Willem II in the Eredivisie on a season long contract and played 32 of 34 games in the 2017/18 season. He scored a number of goals, including a spectacular bicycle kick in a 3–2 win against FC Utrecht which was voted Voetbal International Goal of the Month and contributed to his being named Eredivisie Rookie of the Month for March 2018.
For 2018/19 Tsimikas was retained at Olympiacos and not sent on loan again. Although mainly left on the bench that season with Leonardo Koutris preferred over him at left back, when he did play he still made a number of goal and assist contributions, including a cross for Kostas Fortounis’ first goal in a 5-1 demolition of F91 Dudelange in the Europa League group stage; leading to both players being named in the UEFA Europa League Team of the Week.
The Olympiacos management are known to have huge faith in Tsimikas, as he was offered a new deal supposedly to keep him at the club until the summer of 2023.
And then Liverpool came calling.
