Liverpool’s all-time top goalscorer Ian Rush celebrates his 60th birthday today. The Welsh wizard arrived at Liverpool with a big reputation – he cost a record fee for a teenager back in 1980.
The moustached marksman paid back the faith shown in him by manager Bob Paisley by amassing a terrific goalscoring record for the Reds. The 47 goals scored by Rush in 1983-84 remains the record goals scored across all competitions in a season for Liverpool.
