October 19th marks the anniversary of Liverpool’s first ever League Cup tie, a 1-1 draw with Luton Town at Anfield in 1960. Liverpool have a rich history in the competition, holding the record, alongside Manchester City, for most cup wins.
Despite not tending to be club’s number one target every season, the League Cup has provided Reds fans with some great moments, such as the first leg of a historic treble under Gerard Houllier in 2001, and Kenny Dalglish’s last trophy as manager in 2012.
