It is the 25th of May, and 17 years ago today Liverpool completed one of their most famous victories: The Miracle of Istanbul.
For those too young to remember, (or if you have been cryogenically frozen like Austin Powers) the Reds fell 3-0 behind to Carlo Ancelotti’s AC Milan in the first half, before scoring three goals in seven minutes to even the score at 3-3. Rafa Benitez’s side eventually won the penalty shootout, sealing a famous fifth European Cup.
