Liverpool defeats RB Leipzig by two goals to nil in Budapest!

A Huge Win

WE WON A GAME AND KEPT A CLEAN SHEET!

No, but seriously, a great game of football from Liverpool tonight, and that will be a huge boost of confidence for the squad!

The clean sheet tonight is a huge both defensively and for Alisson personally. He’s obviously been struggling recently so that will be massive for him going forward. He made some great saves tonight in order to keep us in the game and keep it at 2-0.

Ozan Kabak and Jordan Henderson did a good job defensively this evening and it’s nice to see that the mix-up against Leicester hasn’t affected Kabak in any way. His tackling was top-notch, he was in the right place at the right time to intercept balls and he was able to do a Joel Matip-esque run forward at one point which was nice to see.

I was impressed with Trent Alexander-Arnold again tonight, his form in the last couple of matches has been good despite the results and he looks back his best in terms of trying to go forward and make something happen.

The midfield did a good job too. At times we were a bit overrun but that was bound to happen at some point and the important thing is that we were able to re-gain possession quickly and try and build something again. Thiago was impressive, he was calm in possession and just went through the motions of the game as did Gini Wijnaldum. The Dutchman probably took a little bit longer to get into the game but once he did he was everywhere as usual.

Brilliant work from the front three tonight, Mo Salah alive and alert to everything that came his way, his run of form recently is exceptional and it’s made to think how many more goals he could potentially have had if our team was fit and firing as usual. I was happy to see Sadio Mane get on the scoresheet tonight, he needed that goal to end a bit of a drought and I don’t think he has been performing brilliantly lately so that might kick him into gear ahead of this weekend’s Derby.

Curtis Jones

Curtis Jones is getting a lot of praise on social media tonight and rightly so! Every situation you put him in he comes out on top and his level of maturity for a 19-year-old playing for Liverpool is outstanding. His growth in the last year or so has been exceptional and he has fully cemented himself as one of the first-choice options in midfield this season.

Everton Up Next

The Merseyside Derby awaits on Saturday evening and it will be a good contest between an in-form Everton. Tonight’s win was massive ahead of this game and not just the result but the performance itself will be a boost to the players and the manager.
