As we edge closer towards the end of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure, links between Ruben Amorim and Liverpool seem to only get stronger and according to HITC, if Liverpool were to bring in the Sporting manager, they would do so alongside Swedish “powerhouse” Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swede reportedly has a release clause of £86m, something that Sporting are likely to demand and not go a penny under, due to the centre forward only putting pen to paper on his 5-year contract last summer after a £20m move from Championship outfit Coventry City.

Gyokeres has bagged 36 goals in all competitions so far this season, outscoring Liverpool’s top scorer Mohamed Salah by 13, providing a sure goal scorer, something the Reds have missed as of late.

Is Liverpool’s Title Challenge Over?

Due to Amorim’s strict and specific style of play, Gyokeres is not the only Sporting player to be linked with Liverpool. Centre-back pair Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande, are also both rumoured to be potential targets should the Portuguese manager arrive at Anfield.

Diomande has a rumoured release clause of £68m whilst Inacio boasts a cheaper clause of £51m, both may seem attractive to the Reds as Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk enters the 2024/25 season aged 33. The pair, both under the age of 23, could provide a long-term solution to Liverpool’s defensive insecurities and also allow for Amorim to deploy his 3 at the back formation which has featured often in Sporting’s games this season.

We Need To Talk About Mo Salah.

Redmen Reacts

Albeit far too simplistic to suggest any new manager would be desperate to bring familiar players to Anfield, were it to be Amorim there is no doubt the 39-year-old would look to his Sporting side for players he knows he can trust and will help for a smooth transition to his 3-4-3 formation.

Without a recognised left-sided central defender in the current Liverpool crop, Inacio would be a shrewd signing, whilst both Gyokeres and Diomande present wholly viable options given their brilliant campaigns in Portugal for a side seemingly destined to win the Primeira Liga.

Whatever happens, it seems almost inevitable that this summer will be another one which will see tweaks to the squad as Klopp’s successor looks to implement their own style and put a stamp on the ranks.
