The games are coming thick and fast for Liverpool now as Internazionale try to claw back a two-goal deficit, though they will face a difficult task against Klopp’s side who are now gathering momentum, and received positive injury news this week.

Thiago, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino are all back in contention after picking up knocks, and that means the Reds will have a wealth of options to choose from on Tuesday night.

While we’re comfortable, it’s important not to get complacent. The game could go in the wrong direction if Inter get the first goal, then it only takes a crazy decision or penalty to make it a test, but Klopp will know this after the performance the Serie A champions put in at the San Siro.

Here’s how we should lineup:

One change to the back five sees Kostas Tsimikas come in for Andy Robertson. I think Tsimikas has done enough to earn the trust in these sorts of games, and it’s unlikely the Greece international will let us down when playing alongside Virgil, Konate, and Trent.

Fabinho starts behind two players who changed the game last time round – that was Keita and Henderson who changed the game when they came on, and that will be important as Inter look to start fast. Thiago could be an option from the bench with five substitutes but I don’t think there will be a need for him here. If we have a two-goal cushion with 30 minutes to go, just bring on James Milner or Curtis Jones.

It’s unclear whether Roberto Firmino will be able to play from the start after just coming back from a knock so it may be safer to use him from the bench in this one. Luis Diaz, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah complete the team.

An Anfield crowd buoyed by the Champions League night should be enough to leave Inter bewildered. Liverpool should get plenty of chances with the opponents needing to score three to qualify, and while their aggression might see them get on the scoresheet, it’s difficult to see the Reds not punishing them on the counter-attack.

Score prediction: Liverpool 3 – 1 Internazionale
