Roma Vs Liverpool | Things We Learned

What. A. Night! Unbelievable result for Liverpool last night to send us through to another European final and hopefully we can make this one count. A 5-2 lead from the first leg gave us the confidence and an early goal from Sadio Mane put us all at ease straight away. However, we didn’t keep the lead for long after a Dejan Lovren clearance hit James Milner in the face and into the back of the net making it 1-1, bet you he is glad to see the back of this semi-final. The unthinkable happened not long before half-time when Georginio Wijnaldum scored his first away goal in three years and his first for Liverpool to put us 2-1 up. The game didn’t go to plan though as Roma came out fighting and made it difficult for us. Robertson is the best left-back we’ve had for a long long time  The Scottsman has proved that he is a valuable asset to Jurgen Klopp and this Liverpool team. This time last year he was being relegated with Hull City and now he is three weeks away from a Champions League final. The 24-year-old had a great game last night, he got forward quite a lot and used his pace and strength to skip past defenders but also put in a great defensive performance. He has been consistent in his performances since earning his place back in the team and there is no way anyone is taking his place from him.  Our defence was fragile at times  There is no doubt that Virgil Van Dijk has improved our defence massively but there are still times us fans have been worried. There were a few shaky moments last night and conceding four goals, two in the final 10 minutes, put us all on edge. Obviously Trent Alexander-Arnold is only 19 and still has time to improve and although Lovren has come on leaps and bounds since last season he still had some dodgy moments last night. Also the lack of midfield players proves the lack of squad depth we have and hopefully in the summer we can add a few more players that can continue to help us reach more finals in the coming years. Oh Mane Mane! A great performance from this fella last night and his goal in the 10th minute meant that he had now scored 9 Champions league goals and made it 29 in 12 games for our front three. Mane has been criticised at times this season for some of his performances but he has actually got more goals and assists than any previous season in a Liverpool shirt and his performance last night shows that when he is in form, he can be a nightmare for defenders. Jurgen Klopp Na Na Na Na Na  We couldn’t have asked for a better manager, this is his third final since taking over the managerial role at Liverpool back in October 2015 and although he hasn’t got any silverware to show for his efforts we’re all hoping this time he does. There is no doubt that Liverpool have come on leaps and bounds since Klopp took over and our performances this season have proved that hard work and a little bit of patience really does pay off. After the news broke that his assistant Zeikjo Buvac was not going to be involved with the club for the remainder of the season, many wondered whether Klopp could live without ???his brain’ for the remaining games and especially in a crucial game like last nights. But he blocked all that out and was able to prove to the doubters just how strong of a team we are and send Liverpool to Kiev!   Article by Lauren Black -@LaurenBlack9 For more Redmen TV content including podcasts, subscriber exclusives and three new shows every week subscribe now and get your first month for FREE bit.ly/RMTVjoin
