Another weekend goes by and although Glastonbury stole the headlines, it hasn’t gone unnoticed that the Reds are still yet to add to the signing of Alexis Mac Allister this summer.

Despite the lull in speculation, the same names continue to remain on the agenda for Liverpool and once again they’ve all been involved in one way or another at the Under 21 European Championships.

Before we get into those links however, both Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott played an impressive part in a 2-0 victory for England over Israel, with the latter enjoying a cameo late on whilst Jones stood out during a magnificent midfield display. The Scouser played all 90 minutes, earning a 7.60 Sofascore rating as he completed 136 touches, all nine of his attempted long balls and, just to add to a complete midfield performance, he won three tackles.

BOBBY FIRMINO: BEST IN THE WORLD

As for those who aren’t Reds just yet in some cases, there were mixed fortunes in terms of their personal outings and I’ve taken a look at the stats via Sofascore to assess how they fared…

Spain 1-0 Croatia

It was another cameo for Gabri Veiga as the talented Spaniard continues to play a surprisingly lesser role for the young Spain side. The 21-year-old made five accurate passes, had one shot blocked and won two ground duels in his 28-minute-long appearance.

Two possible future Reds in this one as both Ryan Gravenberch and Micky van de Ven played the entirety of a fascinating draw against fellow tournament contenders.

Gravenberch completed 62 passes, one key pass and successfully outwitted his opponent with his dribbling on three occasions. To add to his attacking prowess-laden display, the Dutchman also won 11 ground duels and made one interception.

Wolfsburg defender Van de Ven also played 90 minutes, completed one clearance and won one ground duel.

Norway 0-1 France

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the fixtures so far came when Khephren Thuram sat out the entire match as one of the tournament favourites continued on their merry way.

Fellow midfield enforcer Manu Kone was also named on the bench, however, the 22-year-old came on for the final 12 minutes and successfully made one key pass and won two tackles.

A quieter than usual round of fixtures for some of the prodigiously talented youngsters linked with a switch to Anfield this summer. Expect the key players to play a greater role as the tournament reaches the business end.

As ever, we will cover the finer details all the way!
