The latest news coming from Sky Sports is that Newcastle have made an enquiry to take Daniel Sturridge on loan until the end of the season.
Personally, I think it would be a good move for him as he hasn’t really been involved for the Reds this season so I think it would benefit him to go to a club who are in the Premier League and where he will feature quite frequently. Newcastle are currently 15th in the Premier League and just 1 point off the bottom three so maybe having a striker like Sturridge can help them push up the league.
There is a lot of competition for places this season with Firmino being our number one striker, Solanke on the bench and Danny Ings making his comeback into the first team squad so it looks as though Klopp doesn’t see Sturridge as part of Liverpool’s plans for the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign, however if you look at it from a Liverpool point of view, can we really go the remainder of the season with Solanke and Ings as our back up strikers if Firmino where to get injured?
Since Sturridge signed for Liverpool in January 2013 he has had injury nightmares, he made a great start in his first season for the Reds scoring in his first three appearances, something no Liverpool player had done since Ray Kennedy in 1974, he appeared in 16 matches in the remainder of the season scoring a total of 13 goals in all competitions. However, he has missed quite a lot of games for the Reds through injury and with him recently returning to training he needs to have more game time so going out on loan might help him get back some of that match fitness and get him back to his best.
Do you think Liverpool should keep hold of Sturridge or should he be sent out on loan for the remainder of the season?
