Slot Plays The Success Odds As Trio’s Future Remains Unknown

We only have to go back a few months in reality to find a number of Liverpool fans who were understandably concerned about what the future and the 2024/25 campaign would have in store for us given all of the changes that we saw over the summer, and the inevitable first team questions that naturally followed on from that.

Jurgen Klopp’s place in our history was secured long before he finally announced his decision to step away from Anfield at the end of last season, and with the decision being taken early, the club were able to work quietly in the background and do their due diligence on what ultimately became the appointment of 46-year-old Dutchman Arne Slot.

Remarkable Start:

Despite those natural concerns over the summer, Slot’s adjustment to our dugout has been remarkable really and for those that dabble with online casino games, a Fortune Tiger Demo probably would not have worked out this well. He came in and sensibly did not overhaul what had already been working for our German gaffer, but instead made subtle tweaks that are clearly working out for him, and in keeping the players onside as he made those subtle tweaks, they have reacted and are giving him just as much as they gave Klopp and we are reaping the benefits as may those on https://sportsbet.io/sports if they make their choices sensibly.

With a number of other sides wobbling in their own form both domestically and on a Champions League front, those benefits right now are even clearer given the consistency that we have managed to show in our performance levels and the results we have picked up. On a Premier League front, we are sat in the top spot on 31 points with a league-best plus 16 goal difference, thanks to ten wins and one draw, and at this very early stage of the season, we are already eight points clear or Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side.

In the newly revamped Champions League 36 team format, following Tuesday’s league action, we are now sat in third place with 12 points (having dropped from the top spot) but we have a game in hand on both Barcelona and Inter Milan, with the Italian side only holding a one-point advantage right now.

With Real Madrid quickly up next for us, they have had a woeful competition so far with two wins and two defeats, so it is certainly not beyond the realms of possibility given our form that we could make their season significantly worse and in turn, push ourselves back into top spot.

Slotting In Perfectly:

But whatever the future may hold here, both on a European front as well as a domestic one, it has been a great start for Slot and we simply have to hope that it is not simply an extended honeymoon period – although granted we will certainly have a wobble at some point, but a season is always a bit of a rollercoaster.

And the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign will certainly be just that irrespective of what actually happens on the pitch, as per the above, some first-team questions still need to be answered…three really and they concern the more immediate futures of key stars Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.

Sadly, despite our impressive on-pitch performances under Slot this year, each player has proven to be an unfortunate distraction off the pitch and in the media. TAA had his Ballon d’Or interview and his ambitions for success amidst strong rumours linking him with our next opponents, VVD thankfully seems more likely to quickly sign a new contract extension deal, and most recently we have had the Egyptian wizard seeking out the press after his Southampton brace to talk of his ‘disappointment’ at not actually having a firm contract offer on the table, despite negotiations still ongoing.

The club need to sort these distractions as the nearer we get to the January transfer window the worse the speculation will become, and given the position we are currently in everyone has to be pulling in the same direction and we need everyone on the same page.

Contract breakthroughs would be a very nice early Christmas present for fans at this point, as we all just want to focus on our success on the pitch.
