Starting XI: How should Liverpool line-up against Cardiff?

Article by Adam Brown @AdamMNVi  After a convincing win during the week against Red Star, Cardiff are next in line for Liverpool in a more favourable run of games than in the previous month. There was plenty to positives to take from Wednesday, not least the performances of Xherdan Shaqiri and Fabinho who showed exactly why Jurgen Klopp recruited them in the summer. The Swiss winger is becoming an extremely valuable asset to the club, recording an assist in three of his last four games. Away from the statistics, it’s clear to see that teams are finding it difficult when Shaq has the ball as the 10, aware of his ability to beat players with dribbling or play a key pass to create good opportunities. It’s a case of same again Formation: 4-3-3  With Jordan Henderson and Naby Keita unavailable due to injury, as well as a week before Liverpool’s next fixture against Arsenal, there’s no reason to make any changes for this one. Cardiff will be confident after picking up their first win of the Premier League season against Fulham, but other than set-pieces, there isn’t much threat to expect from the side currently in 17^th. The Bluebirds will look to concede possession and counter-attack, but it’s unclear what plan Neil Warnock will have for Fabinho. The Brazilian was unstoppable last time out against Belgrade, recording nine tackles in his first European start. Xherdan Shaqiri is our best option as the more attacking midfielder in this one, in terms of our closest replacement to Coutinho, Shaq has been excellent in that role behind the unchanged front three of Mane, Firmino and Salah. Against more defensive sides, Trent Alexander-Arnold is vital for his attacking play and crossing, so there’s no reason to consider changing the back five at all.
