Starting XI: How should Liverpool line up against Fulham?

Whatever Tuesday was, it’s vital that Liverpool can bounce back and not let a performance like that happen again.

Fortunately, the Reds are still in control in the group, but we can’t let players get into bad habits, changes need to be made for the upcoming game against Fulham.

Some players didn’t do themselves any favours in midweek, and with the squad depth on hand this season, Klopp will quickly replace anyone falling short of the expected standards.

Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez and Naby Keita are available for selection after injury concerns, which means that we could see all three involved in some form on Sunday.

The back four going forward?

With Matip’s lack of game time showing, as well as Trent’s dip in form, the back four could be completed this week by Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez, a line which looked solid when employed against Manchester City.

Midfield must improve

The midfield performance on Tuesday was a candidate for the worst of the season, they were clueless against Red Star, recording zero tackles against the Serbian side.

If Naby Keita is fit to start, then he should come in for Wijnaldum, but after a few weeks out, Gini could be the better option until the second half. Going forward, it would be interesting to see a midfield trio of Keita-Shaqiri-Fabinho.

Despite a dip in form (by his standards) for Roberto Firmino, the Brazilian is our best option as a striker if Klopp doesn’t plan to play him in the 10. Salah and Mane complete the attack.

Fulham currently sit bottom of the Premier League table, conceding 29 goals, which means that if there is a game for Liverpool to “rediscover their mojo” it’s this one. The loss in Belgrade could act as a catalyst, similar to what we saw last season after the result against Spurs.
