By Adam Brown – @AdamMNViThe semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup begin on Wednesday as Liverpool take on Mexican side, Monterrey, in Doha.Another opportunity for quick silverware could see the Reds win their third trophy of 2019 while sitting comfortably on top of the Premier League table. The league is what Liverpool must prioritise. This tournament could be seen as a hindrance in between the title challenge, but it’s also an opportunity to give some needed rest to key players. It would be smart for Trent and Andy Robertson to treat this trip as a short holiday. The Reds’ fullbacks are significant to the way Klopp plays, there’s no need to risk either of them against weaker opposition.
How should Liverpool line up?Goalkeepers should split the reps here with Adrian playing the semi before calling upon Alisson in the final.Milner and Nico Williams come in to allow Robertson and Alexander-Arnold extra rest. The Reds are desperately short at centre-back until Hoever and Van den Berg fly to Qatar. Virgil and Gomez maintain their places from the weekend win against Watford.Lallana starts in the six behind Naby Keita and Curtis Jones. Managing players carefully will be the priority while in Doha which should see plenty of playing time for those on the fringes. There’s no need to play any of the main front three. Origi, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Shaqiri complete an attack which is more than capable of dispatching Monterrey comfortably. The Mexican side are unbeaten in their last 14 matches, but the Liga MX quality of opposition will be a stark contrast to the Reds.Score prediction: Liverpool 2 – 0 Monterrey By Adam Brown – @AdamMNViHow does Chris think Klopp will select the team?
