The Premier League season is back. Sunday’s performance has re-instilled the confidence into Liverpool fans after an impressive second-half display against Manchester City. The Reds are ready to go again.

Kicking off the new campaign at home against a newly-promoted side is the perfect way to begin the title challenge.

Here’s how Jurgen Klopp should select the side on Friday night.

Joel Matip has continued to impress since getting his chance in the side last season. There’s no reason for Klopp to change the back five which proved to be one of Liverpool’s most impressive defences in recent years.

Fabinho starts from the six. There is an argument to consider whether Wijnaldum may be a better option here against weaker opposition, but Norwich will be motivated for their first game back in the Premier League – control the game and get in front.

The midfield is going to be a selection headache every week; we’re spoilt for choice. I’ve played it safe this week with Henderson starting from where he left off alongside Wijnaldum – but it would be unsurprising to see Keita or Oxlade-Chamberlain in the starting line up.

Salah, Firmino and Divock make up the front three as Sadio Mane has only just returned to training.

Any feelings of pessimism should have passed after Liverpool’s second-half performance against City. The Reds looked levels above the performances we saw in pre-season – which is why you shouldn’t ever be too excited or too down about pre-season games.

This is the sort of match which Liverpool must get through convincingly if we are to mount another title challenge. Norwich will start with enthusiasm, but the Reds should be able to get into the lead before the half.

Prediction: Liverpool 3 – 0 Norwich City
