Article by Adam Brown @ScouseAdamMVAnother solid performance for Liverpool on Monday Night Football continued the Reds perfect start to the Premier League season. Crystal Palace are a side who can upset any side at home, so it was great to see the team put out a performance which you’d associate with champions. The uncertainty at centre-half for the Reds is beginning to fade.In particular, the performance of the defence has been deservedly merited. The player who has benefitted most from these opening two games is Joe Gomez; two dominant performances as he continues to learn alongside Virgil van Dijk a partnership which looks promising, and, could easily become established if the cleansheets continue. While it would be nice to discuss some different possibilities and create some debate, the performances have been so good, that, it’s difficult to take anyone out of the team. With Brighton likely to set up defensively, Wijnaldum is our best option to play in the six role helping the transition from defence to attack. As for the defence, it’s a matter of repetition. A man of the match performance by van Dijk last week again shows how much the Dutchman has turned Liverpool’s backline around everyone seems more comfortable, and, Alisson’s addition has only helped reduce the anxiety in close games. Is plan B required? In the final game of last season, Liverpool employed a 4-2-3-1 system against Brighton and produced a comfortable 4-0 victory. This system, in particular, saw Roberto Firmino play in the 10 behind Solanke. This will undoubtedly be on Klopp’s mind as he prepares for Saturday’s match, which means we certainly could see us switch in the second half. Formation : 4-2-3-1 The 4-2-3-1 system would certainly cause problems for teams who are intending on parking the bus at Anfield. While last season’s result means it would probably make sense to employ this system, Milner’s performances have been solid so far so he has warranted his place in the team which fits best in the 4-3-3 setup.Of course, 4-2-3-1 can also be used to shut up shop and play the game out which could see the likes of Henderson or Fabinho coming on in the later stages.Article by Adam Brown @ScouseAdamMVHow does Chris think Jurgen Klopp will select the team?
