Starting XI: How should Liverpool line up against Manchester City?
A season-defining clash against Manchester City presents the perfect opportunity to garner momentum after a 7-1 win against Rangers, but amid fresh injury concerns, Jurgen Klopp has the difficult task of finding a way to stop Erling Haaland without multiple key stars available.
Ibrahima Konate was excellent in midweek against Rangers, but after missing training, he is now a doubt for Sunday’s clash due to a muscle problem. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip also remain out for this one.
Here’s how we should line up:
Formation 4-2-3-1
Joe Gomez remains at right-back after a strong display in the Champions League, leaving a decision between Nat Phillips and Fabinho at centre-back. With Haaland in form, Fabinho should move back into centre-back for this one. James Milner has struggled at right-back in recent matches, so probably isn’t the right fit against City.
Henderson and Thiago start in holding midfield as Liverpool move into the 4-2-3-1 system to get the best players on the pitch. Roberto Firmino starts from the 10 with Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota out-wide.
Darwin Nunez, who scored with a good finish despite not being involved much against Rangers, starts in a match where he got on the scoresheet last time around.
Score prediction: Liverpool 2 – 1 Manchester City
