Liverpool will be looking to double-down on an impressive midweek victory and another clean sheet when arch-rivals and in-form Manchester United arrive at Anfield following a short trip down the motorway.
The Reds have certainly shown glimpses of returning to their former powers in recent weeks – Real Madrid capitulation aside – however, this will prove a particularly stern test as United come to town fresh off the back of Carabao Cup glory and with a possible outside chance of a Premier League title race on the horizon.
Despite all of this, Jurgen Klopp knows his side are capable of picking up all three points on any given day, and this will be no different!
Here’s how I think Klopp will select his XI…
Here’s how we should line up: Formation 4-3-3
Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate help the Reds keep the cleanest of the recent clean sheets against Wolves and that partnership should be preferred once again here.
Albeit an impressive display from Kostas Tsimikas, Andy Robertson’s leadership and experience is likely to be chosen to take on what is currently a rampant visiting side.
Klopp opted for a youthful midfield in midweek as Harvey Elliott partnered Stefan Bajcetic ahead of Fabinho, and although the former was impressive, it seems almost certain that captain Jordan Henderson will return to the fold for this titanic clash.
Following the announcement of Roberto Firmino’s summer exit, it could well be an occasion for the Brazilian forward, particularly with an out-of-sorts Diogo Jota still striving for his best form and the added experience of Firmino over Cody Gakpo.
Lineup prediction: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Bajcetic, Henderson; Salah, Nunez, Firmino.
Score prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Manchester United
