Article by Adam Brown @AdamMNViWednesday’s game was a joke. There’s no point taking anything from it, other than Alisson will certainly be the Liverpool goalkeeper for the long-term – the Brazilian is the real deal. Aside from the dries= performance of the season, it’s time to focus on the final match of our tough run of games. It’s looking like Keita will be unavailable for this one, and with the Reds looking less than convincing in Naples, it could be time to surprise our opponents with a change of system. Despite beating City on three out of four occasions last season, there’s always slightly more nerves when playing against them, but we can be sure that our attack will certainly be given more space than in games against other opponents. Formation: 4-2-3-1While we could, of course, deploy a 4-3-3 formation, do we want to match Manchester City here? It’s a game where Liverpool must accept that there will be less control of the game against Guardiola, and without Keita, as well as Fabinho not being “fully” ready yet – we may need to counter-attack more in this one. An alternative to this set up would be to play Salah upfront with Firmino in behind, but Mané is more than capable of delivering from that position, and Shaqiri has done more than enough to warrant a chance in a big game. In terms of the back five, there is no reason to change just yet – despite relying on Alisson on a couple of occasions over the past two games. Besides, there’s not really plenty of changes we can make – we’ve not seen enough from Clyne/Moreno to suggest that they are close to a place in the side. It’s not easy to leave Wijnaldum out, and a lot is based off remembering Milner’s performances against Manchester City in the Champions League last season, but if we’re looking more to counter-attack in this game, we need to ensure that our best defensive players are on – Fabinho will likely be much more involved in the second half of the season. Overall, it’s likely going to be another one of those nerve-wracking, high-scoring games, but Klopp can certainly continue his good record against Guardiola on Sunday evening.
