In terms of chance creation, Liverpool’s performance against Spurs was arguably the best of the season. PSG, however, offer a completely different challenge, but one which will provide a glimpse of how good this Liverpool side really is.The French side’s main threat comes from their front-three of Neymar, Cavani and Mbappe, which means that a lot of this game will depend on which team’s defence can nullify the attack best. Despite some big names, PSG aren’t known for having a stubborn defence – which is in part due to their expansive way of playing football, something which will only benefit the Reds. For an attacking team, Jurgen Klopp’s style of play is the worst to come up against. Liverpool’s games against Manchester City will be a good measure of how this game could go. On paper, PSG’s front-three is better than City’s, but their midfield is where Liverpool can gain an edge – Liverpool can outwork the Parisiens.Formation : 4-3-3While this game makes sense for Fabinho to come in versus an opponent he has played against before, with no competitive minutes played yet, this should instead be the game where he is introduced from the bench. With the Parisien outfit being the toughest attacking side of the season, there’s always the thought of starting Henderson to be more assured when defending – but after seeing our struggles vs Leicester with Henderson and Milner in the midfield, it’s too risky to make a change for such a big game. Milner, on the other hand, will be vital in this game – he’s been excellent so far this season. Of course, some people will think he needs a rest, but the Leeds-man is actually the fittest player in our squad – we can rest him at the weekend. The front-three for the Reds should remain the same (if possible) – Firmino will probably wear some goggles. Should the Brazilian not be available, Sturridge is a fine option upfront, but as is Salah if we needed to move the Egyptian king central and play Shaqiri; It’s nice having some genuine squad depth. Overall, it will be an exciting game for our group stage opener – it’s good to get a test of the sort of teams we will face in the latter stages.
