A midweek clash against Rangers allows Liverpool continue good form in the Champions League after a disappointing result against Arsenal saw the Reds come away from the Emirates with three injuries to key players.
Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold are set to be sidelined for the next two weeks, while Luis Diaz won’t be back until after the World Cup. It’s a story that Klopp has seen before in 2020, but the Reds will be hopeful that the squad is much better off this time around.
Here’s how we should line up:
Formation 4-3-3
Changes to the back four see Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate come in for the injured pair. Andy Robertson is understood to be back in training, but Tsimikas should start unless the Scotland captain is fully fit for this one.
Fabinho comes back into the team in holding midfield behind Jordan Henderson and Harvey Elliott. A rest for Thiago Alcantara after a disappointing display against Arsenal keeps him fresh for Manchester City at the weekend.
Up front, Mohamed Salah starts with Diogo Jota, who should be Luis Diaz’s replacement on the left-flank, supporting Darwin Nunez as the central striker.
Despite a strong atmosphere at Ibrox, Liverpool should be able to repeat their performance against Rangers on Wednesday night, with vast differences in quality between the two sides.
Score prediction: Rangers 0 – 3 Liverpool
