Article by Adam Brown – @AdamMNViOff the back of a great performance against Paris Saint-Germain, it’s time to welcome Southampton to Anfield, as well as their transfer team who may request the extra £50million that Liverpool didn’t pay for Virgil van Dijk – the Dutch defender has been a colossus this season. In regards to the entire defence, the performance on Tuesday night was one of the best since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival. There’s simply no way the back-four can change after Liverpool’s young trio of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez and Andy Robertson looked a level above the world’s most expensive front three. The two goals we conceded, were in reality, a misfortunate deflection which lead to a good finish, and, a rare moment of sloppiness by Mo Salah. The Egyptian King hasn’t found his highest gear yet, but it’s only a matter of time before the goals return. Class is permanent. Southampton will provide a different challenge to the Parisians, the Saints will certainly be much more rigid, and more than satisfied if they can take a point back home.At home against a side who will be looking for a point, it’s important to name a strong attacking XI. The front three remains the same from the game against Spurs, where better finishing would have lead to a much higher scoreline than 2-1. Protected by Jordan Henderson, a midfield pairing of Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita will be enabled plenty of freedom to get forward and support the attack. This could be highly effective against teams who park the bus. Whilst Milner put in an unreal performance on Tuesday, he will be much more important in the upcoming games against Chelsea. The Reds have a genuine chance of going for every trophy this season, and, it’s important that while we do give some players opportunities in the league cup, the side is still more than strong enough to progress. There’s no real concerns going into this game, other than a fear of complacency – Southampton are more than capable of upsetting title challengers, so it’s important that the Reds are ruthless in front of goal. Let’s keep this momentum going. Article by Adam Brown – @AdamMNVi How does Chris think that Jurgen Klopp will select the side?
