An excellent performance against Arsenal sets the Reds up perfectly for the next hurdle in the Champions League; an away trip to Crystal Palace.
Patrick Vieira’s side were by no means pushovers when they came to Anfield earlier in the season, so this will be the trust test of the AFCON tournament.
The best news from the week is that Harvey Elliott is back in training. The Reds were flying before his injury, and his return could be timed perfectly with him being available in the next few weeks. Thiago remains unavailable.
Here’s how we should line up:
Alisson comes back in goal for the league with Joel Matip returning for Konate. The Cameroonian was solid against Lukaku earlier in the season, and he will have no problems dealing with Palace’s physical threat upfront. Robertson starts at left-back while Trent maintains his position after a masterclass in midweek.
Curtis Jones also looked sharp, and he should be given the opportunity to continue that form on Sunday. There’s no need to change from Henderson and Fabinho who can help nullify the threat of Conor Gallagher.
One change upfront sees Kaide Gordon (who was agonisingly close to scoring again!) come out for Takumi Minamino. Jota and Firmino complete the front three.
It’s a difficult climb, but by no means an impossible one. The Reds have found some good form and the only way to build that momentum is to keep winning games. Salah, Mane and Keita are set to return soon, and if they can come back to a team with momentum determined to take Manchester City all of the way, then we could well be winning multiple trophies this season .
Score prediction: Crystal Palace 0 – 2 Liverpool
