Leah Williamson- Arguably the best defender in the country at the minute Williamson is certainly one to watch. Aged 22 but a real leader in the camp for her age a very mature player and her range of passing is to be admired.Williamson scored the winner in the Lionesses last game away in the Czech Republic and has won 14 senior caps for her country so far. When does it all start? England takes on the USA on Thursday 5th March first, the last time they met was in the Summers World Cup as the USA won 2-1 thanks to goals from Christen Press and Alex Morgan. However, it is a new era for the USA as Vlatko Andonovski is now in charge.Since his arrival they have played and won all seven games, scoring 34 goals and conceding just 2.One to watch for the USA? Christen Press- Press is finally getting her shot at international football on a consistent basis, she really impressed in the recent Olympic qualifying matches and looks a constant threat going forward with her array of finishing.Image result for christen pressIn 2019 she netted 8 times in 14 NWSL matches for her club Utah Royals and will certainly be a threat for the Lionesses on Thursday night.Sunday, March 8th they meet Japan before closing their campaign on Wednesday 11th March against Spain. What the Phil Neville said?“I want us to approach it in the same way as we did last season when we won the competition. I want to see the togetherness, the spirit and the determination to win. When you stand on a platform with a trophy and a medal around your neck, that breeds confidence and give the team the belief that they can beat the best teams in the world.“This is the best competition outside of the major tournaments. You’re playing against the best team in the world and two other really good teams as well in circumstances where there is a two day turnaround in games, the travel, and the crowds. This is vital in our programme and we want to win the competition.”Article by Josh Bunting – @Buntingfootball Subscribe to our YouTube Channel! –
