Just over an hour ago, Liverpool fans across the world may have been fearing the worst as Sadio Mane picked up an injury whilst playing for Senegal in a World Cup qualifier against Togo.

The 29-year-old was substituted off in the 28th minute of the game and was replaced by Villarreal’s Boulaye Dia.

However, it has been revealed that the substitution was only precautionary, which will no doubt delight Reds’ fans.

Speaking after his side’s 1-1 draw with Togo, Senegal coach Aliou Cisse said:

“Yes, the exit of Sadio Mane destabilised us, he is an important player for the team, we took him out as a precaution and there is nothing serious.”

Thank goodness for that!

Liverpool have had enough bad injury luck this season, so to hear that Mane’s injury isn’t serious is a huge, huge relief.

The Senegalese star has been in very good form in recent weeks and given that Liverpool will be without Bobby Firmino after the international break, they need Mane available to play.

It looks like the forward will, all being well, fit to face Arsenal when the international break is over, and that is a huge positive for Liverpool, whose fans were fearing the worst when they saw one of their star players down on the field on international duty.
