The EPL is the richest football league globally. It boasts some of the most powerful teams in the world and all of them have had a busy summer transfer window. No other football league spends money quite like the EPL. As a result, it makes football transfer news headlines for lavish spending and blockbuster star signings.

The excitement of almost endless possibilities conjured during the 2023/2024 Premier League summer transfer window outstrips the regular season’s underwhelming reality for millions of football fans. Just a handful of EPL clubs harbour realistic trophy-winning hopes, and even fewer lift any silverware.

But every EPL club had the opportunity to make some clever additions in the summer transfer window. From Declan Rice to Alexis Mac Allister to Moussa Diaby, let’s discover some of the best talents secured by the Premier League clubs.

Alexis Mac Allister (Brighton to Liverpool)

Liverpool concluded a complete midfield retool this summer transfer window, ending the James Milner/Fabinho/Henderson era in a single fell swoop, bringing on some world-class replacements.

Alexis Mac Allister, who cost the club €42 million, was one of those new additions. The World Cup winner offers energy versatility and is already a complete midfielder.

Declan Rice (West Ham to Arsenal)

Declan Rice is the most expensive signing of the 2023/2024 EPL summer transfer window. But the gentleman is worth it! Arsenal paid a hefty price of €117 million for Declan Rice, beating their rivals Manchester City to get the player’s services.

An expert at winning the ball back and so calm at it, Declan will provide Arsenal with a vital balance in midfield. Declan Rice brings much to the Arsenal table from his soccer skills and ability.

Nicolas Jackson (Villarreal to Chelsea)

Nicolas Jackson’s signing went under the radar a little bit. However, it should not have. The 22-year-old striker had an outstanding finish to last season in Spain’s top flight. Southampton and Bournemouth chased Nicolas Jackson in the January transfer window before an injury scuppered his move to any Premier League side.

Everything worked perfectly for Jackson, who started the pre-season tour excellently in the USA. His willingness to run and pace perfectly suits Mauricio Pochettino’s system, and Jackson is a tidy finisher, too. Nicolas Jackson cost Chelsea €37 million.

Moussa Diaby (Bayer Leverkusen to Aston Villa)

Since its promotion from the EFL, Aston Villa’s lofty desire has been clear, and Unai Emery’s appointment to the football club is an excellent indicator. After an excellent conclusion to last season (2022/2023), Aston Villa embarked on a busy 2023/2024 summer transfer window which saw them grab the services of Moussa Diaby.

A hardworking and relentless producer in the German Bundesliga, Moussa’s work saw him accumulate plenty of admirers. It was the upcoming Aston Villa who managed to acquire his footballing services. Aston Villa paid €54.79 to acquire Moussa’s services.

Josko Gvardiol (RB Leipzig to Manchester City)

Manchester City’s improvement in defence was key to its eventual treble triumph. The club has once again reinforced massively in the summer transfer window to bolster its security.

Being one of the 2022 World Cup stars, Gvardiol is one of the most promising centre-back top talents globally. While Manchester City paid a hefty fee of €88.82 million for the centre-back’s services, he seems tailor-made for the Cityzens and Guardiola.
