Written by: Daniel Ghorbal @GhorbalDanAfter a run of 3 defeats in 4, Liverpool will be hoping to return to winning ways with struggling Bournemouth visiting Anfield this weekend. The Cherries have been in diabolical form since around November time, picking up just 11 points in their previous 15 matches, a worse record than any other side in the division. In previous seasons, Eddie Howe’s side have typically been prolific going forward as well as being leaky at the back, however this season the goals have dried up yet the defence has yet to be fixed significantly. In recent weeks, the likes of Callum Wilson and Josh King have started scoring again after spells out with injury, yet positioned in 18th, it’ll be a nervy end to season for a side that had seemingly sustained themselves within the top flight of English football.Bournemouth come into this encounter on the back of a 2-2 draw against Chelsea, a result which looks good on paper and was undoubtedly vital in their quest for survival, but with Chelsea not in great form themselves and with key players missing it was a great chance to secure 3 points, especially with fellow strugglers Watford and Norwich winning against Liverpool and Leicester respectively, the 1st and 3rd placed team in the league which simply epitomises the sheer unpredictability of the Premier League. On any given day, this would be a home banker but after Watford’s sublime victory last time out, Bournemouth can take some hope into the game, knowing that the pressure will be on Liverpool to regain that momentum and edge closer to the Premier League title. The likes of King, Wilson and Fraser all have the quality to cause the reds problems, and if they were to get an early goal or start the game well, this could be potentially tricky.

Despite Liverpool’s recent blip in form, they are still unbeaten in the league at Anfield since April 2017 and along with Bournemouth’s shaky defence, this will give them hope that they can comfortably beat their visitors. Although they have conceded many goals this season, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale and centre-back Nathan Ake have been superb, winning their side many points with their inspired heroics. Ramsdale has caught the eye in his Premier League debut season and will certainly be in contention for an England place if he maintains his form heading into the latter stages of the season. Against what will undoubtedly be a fired up Liverpool team, Ramsdale will have to be at his absolute best to ensure that Bournemouth stay in the game
