Earlier this week myself and Paul had a go at a few things as we look forward to a potentially big summer for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool. As I’ve mentioned before a major for issue for Liverpool last season was depth and quality within that depth. To remain competitive in the Premier League and to battle in European and domestic cups, we seriously need to back that up with some decent signings this summer.
In a Twitter poll Paul asked our audience how many additional signings they thought we needed to compete for these competitions to add that depth and quality. The outcome of that poll was five. Between that theres is obviously people going out the door who also need to be replaced.
So with Manninger retiring to become a carpenter back in Austria there is an obvious gap for a third choice ‘keeper. Which begs the question to what happens with Danny Ward? Do we keep him, or loan him back out? Is Casillas an ideal replacement?
Defensively we have been all over the place for a numerous amount of seasons now. Sakho seems on his way out the door so an immediate replacement needs to come in for him. Fingers crossed Van Dijk is that replacement. But again there is questions over other parts of that back line, is Milner a first choice left back? Will we keep Moreno? Will anyone buy him? If he does go (hopefully he will) who could we get?
Depth in midfield would be another issue for Liverpool, if we get Keita would Can be happy as a fringe player? Will Coutinho play in that deeper role? When we first tried this it appeared easy but things gradually got more difficult and more questions arose. You will find out more during the release of several videos later on this week.
Attackers, without giving too much away was extremely difficult. The Sturridge debate came about again, then add to that the purchase of Dom Solanke. Do we buy someone else? Or do we have enough fore power in the rest of the squad.
Give us your thoughts on who you would keep and sell. Again keep an eye out for upcoming shows later this week!
