Liverpool took on Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday evening in their FA Cup third-round replay, as the Reds looked to find form once again ahead of a crucial second half of the season, but just how did Jürgen Klopp’s much-changed side perform on the evening?

Caoimhin Kelleher 6 – The Cork man had very little to do overall, but he was as commanding and calm as ever called upon.

Naby Keita 8 – Kept it nice and simple all the way through and got a full 90 minutes under his belt. Part of a midfield unit that pressed in a way we haven’t seen for a while, marvellous display!

Fabio Carvalho 7 –  On his game tonight after being withdrawn from action in recent weeks, pressed brilliantly from the front and made it very hard for Wolves to get out

James Milner 9 – Led from the front and was as steady as a rock, broke up the play brilliantly, smart in winning fouls too when needed.

See how Chris rated the Reds…

Ibrahima Konate 7 – He was very steady indeed, confident throughout which was great to see following a shaky few weeks.

Thiago Alcantara 8 – Outstanding, ran the show for the most part and made his side tick nicely.

Stefan Bajcetic 8 – A performance beyond his years, his awareness, football IQ and ability in possession. Huge confidence was shown by the young man.

Kostas Tsimikas 7 – He played very well, with no real panic in his performance and decent performance overall.

Cody Gakpo 7 – A busy display, tried very hard, he had a positive impact on the rest of the team.

Joe Gomez 8 – Solid, defended excellently all the way through the game, particularly late on as the hosts piled on the pressure.

Harvey Elliott 9 – A clean, crisp and ultimately crucial strike into the back of the Wolves net gave Klopp’s side an ideal start, and also created a chance for Gakpo that he blazed over the bar. Overall he was just simply excellent and you could see how much it meant!

Subs

Curtis Jones 6 – He could have wrapped the game up for Liverpool, but his attempt went agonisingly past the post, but overall he was sound!

Mohamed Salah 6 – Didn’t really get significantly involved until he very nearly beat Jose Sa to a loose ball that would’ve see the Egyptian clean through on goal with an empty net.

Nathaniel Phillips 6 – He was just the tonic as Wolves went long late on. Conceded a dangerous free kick towards the end of the game other than that he got through his time on the pitch well.

Ben Doak 7 – Another extremely exciting cameo from the young Scot. Runs at anyone and everyone, taking the Reds up the pitch on multiple occasions. Plenty more to come from this fearless teen!

Fabinho 7 – Looking back to his best in recent weeks, more signs of a more mobile Brazilian here.

Conclusion:

That was a huge relief, what a performance due to the grit, determination and sheer effort that each and every one of those men in a red shirt put in everyone deserves 100 per cent credit for their desire alone to get a result.

When the chips are down that is a perfect example of how to get back on track!
