There goes our dreams of a treble…
Simon Mignolet – 5
Didn’t make any noteworthy saves however, his ability to put his own defenders under pressure from a goal kick is second to none. Mignolet’s performance only cemented how good Alisson is for Liverpool.
Rafa Camacho – 5
Thought he started brightly and certainly didn’t lack confidence. Sold short by the insistence to push the wing backs forward and found himself caught in behind and chasing back numerous times.
Fabinho – 7
Had to play in a new role due to the lack of centre halves, ultimately did well given the circumstances but maybe didn’t need to commit himself for the first goal.
Dejan Lovren (Subbed off for Hoever 6′) – N/A
Learn to warm-up properly Dejan.
Ki-Jana Hoever – 8
For me Liverpool’s Man of the Match, thrown in at the deep end Hoever wasn’t fazed one bit by the circumstance. His pace, defensive awareness and most importantly his ability on the ball was incredible and he might be called upon very soon due to Liverpool’s defensive crisis.
Alberto Moreno – 3
Doesn’t want to be here and he played like it.
James Milner – 5
Really disappointing performance from the senior figure tonight. Needlessly took a yellow card early on and the less spoken about his part in the first goal the better.
Naby Keita – 4
Tonight provided the perfect platform for Naby Keita to show why Liverpool paid so much for the midfielder and ultimately he failed to deliver. Keita made a bright start to the game but the further it went on the more he faded away, the most disappointing player on the pitch tonight; he will need to improve massively to get into Klopp’s starting XI.
Curtis Jones (Subbed off for Salah 70′) – 5
Jones showed glimpses of why he is so highly regarded by staff and fans alike, unfortunately Jones just didn’t get on the ball enough and defensively he couldn’t get it together with Moreno. With only the Champions League and league to focus on now it is likely that Jones won’t be seen again for Liverpool this season.
Xherdan Shaqiri – 6
As the most talented player on the pitch the first half from Shaqiri was really disappointing however, after Jurgen’s half-time team talk Shaqiri looked more like the player we’ve seen in recent weeks and somehow didn’t grab himself a goal.
Daniel Sturridge (Subbed off for Firmino 70′) – 4
Didn’t really contribute much to the game and was rightfully subbed off when Liverpool were chasing a goal.
Divock Origi – 7
The first half from Origi was a whole lot of running and no ability to go with it, in the second half his ability on the ball matched his work off the ball. Managed to claw Liverpool back into the game from out of nowhere and will feel like he might have worked his way further up the pecking order after tonight.
Mohamed Salah – 6
Looked bright when he came on and nearly got himself a goal. Unfortunately he wasn’t given enough time to properly influence the game.
Roberto Firmino – 6
The same story with Bobby as it was with Salah, did well linking up the midfield with the attacking players but would fall just short in his attempts to get Liverpool back into the game.
