Liverpool’s 3 Best Home Victories under Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool under Klopp have won two of the most prestigious trophies a football club can win: The Champions League and Premier League. Due to the club’s popularity and rich history of winning such trophies, a software company even realised an online slot to appeal to the Liverpool fanbase, LFC Stars. But with every victorious team and every iconic victory, comes a great mind with a plan. In Liverpool’s case, this great mind comes from the legendary manager – Jurgen Klopp. During his time, we have seen masterclasses by his side both at home and away games. However, today we shall only be focusing on Klopp’s best home victories, more specifically, the best three.

Liverpool 4 – 3 Borussia Dortmund (14th April 2016)

This was the iconic Europa League semi-final match. Dortmund led 2-0 at half-time at Anfield, after a 1-1 draw in the first leg. This meant that the Reds needed three unanswered goals to advance.

Three minutes into the second half, Origi netted the goal to give Liverpool some hope. However, this did not last long as Marco Reus scored a third for Dortmund some minutes after. Coutinho and Sakho then each scored goals for the Reds to bring the scoreline to 3-3. And when it seemed like all hope was lost, Lovren netted the 91st-minute winner that ensured Liverpool’s path into the final.

Liverpool 4 – 3 Manchester City (14th January 2018)

Manchester City went into the game unblemished and came away with a dent in their otherwise perfect record. While the final score suggests a hammer-and-tongs end-to-end brawl, it was far from that. Liverpool outclassed City, leading 4-1 with twenty minutes to play, and threw the title race wide open.

Liverpool 4 – 0 Barcelona (7th May 2019)

The Reds needed a miracle to advance to the final after falling behind 3-0 in the first leg. Fortunately, Anfield is known for its miraculous European results, and Liverpool was again at it. Origi’s early strike and a sluggish Barcelona paid when Wijnaldum’s two-minute double levelled the score on aggregate. Then Alexander-Arnold took one of the most iconic corners in history with a quick corner and caught Barcelona’s defence napping, with Origi finishing off the move to send Liverpool to the final.

Conclusion

We’ve gone over Liverpool’s three best home wins under Klopp. Klopp has assembled an outstanding squad capable of competing with the best teams and emerging victorious. He has altered Liverpool’s fortunes, making them one of the most feared teams in the world.
