Starting with the home side Atalanta, on Monday night the Bergamo side saw a dominant 2-0 lead slip in a matter of four minutes early in the second half against relegation-battling Hellas Verona, something that will fill the reds with hope as they hope to fashion their own comeback. This draw extended Atalanta’s poor run of domestic form with only two wins in the last 9 games. However, it is key to note Atalanta’s opposition, with nine of those games including four of the five teams above them in the table.

On top of this Atalanta have lost only three of their 20 home games this season keeping 10 clean sheets and conceding only 15, forcing us to go back to November 2022 to the last time Atalanta conceded three at home in a 3-2 loss to Inter Milan. A three-goal lead would only force extra time, meaning an extra half hour of football for the Reds in an already congested schedule as we step towards the back end of the season.

Is Liverpool’s Title Challenge Over?

Former West Ham frontman Gianluca Scammaca scored once more last night, improving his current impressive run of form to seven goals in eight games, someone Liverpool must keep a close eye on after his constant nuisance and brace at Anfield.

Teun Koopmeiners, who is rumoured to be on his way to Stamford Bridge, turned provider last night after Scammaca finished his through ball, another player to be wary of after his impressive performance at Anfield last week.

We Need To Talk About Mo Salah.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to make his first start for the Reds since coming back from injury after Connor Bradley was forced off early in the second half against Crystal Palace on the weekend.

There will be a close eye on Jurgen Klopp’s forward selection as all five of Klopp’s main forwards are fully fit. Questions over whether or not Darwin Nunez will be dropped for Diogo Jota following Nunez’s poor run of form and Jota’s comeback from injury have emerged. Liverpool are also in a position to start with four forwards if they wish so, something a fixture of Klopp deep into games when Liverpool trail.

It will be interesting to find out who will be Klopp’s choice of goalkeeper after Alisson regains his position in goal against Crystal Palace after 15 consecutive starts in goal for Caoimhin Kelleher, will Alisson keep his place or will Klopp show loyalty to Kelleher after impressive performances this season.

Predicted XI

Alisson; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarrel Quansah, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Curtis Jones; Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, Diogo Jota.

Liverpool are in a poor run of form at the moment and are winless in the last three, losing two and drawing one and will be desperate to turn around current form. Any sort of a win will be welcomed at the moment to help get the Reds back on track, however, turning over the three-goal deficit and completing the comeback will be a sure way to transform Liverpool’s current form and get them back on track to obtain more silverware in Klopp’s last season.

All of that said, a 5-0 win on the last trip to Bergamo which included a Jota hat-trick will certainly will the travelling Kop with hope of another European miracle.
