Liverpool Loan Watch: ‘Fantastic Addition’, ‘Very Attacking Technical Player’ & Debut Heroics

By Luke Pugh

The Reds currently have 15 players out on loan and active with many of them featuring all over Europe and here we give you a rundown of how they are getting on as things stand.

Giorgi Mamardashvili – Valencia Stefan Bajcetic – Las Palmas Ben Doak – Middlesbrough Jayden Danns – Sunderland Lewis Koumas – Stoke Luke Chambers – Wigan Owen Beck – Blackburn Kaide Gordon – Portsmouth Calvin Ramsay – Kilmarnock Nat Phillips – Derby
Luca Stephenson – Dundee United Rhys Williams – Morecambe Dominic Corness – Gillingham Fabian Mrozek – Forest Green Rovers James Norris – Shelbourne

The Redmen TV are proudly partnered with Dr. Emrah Cinik

Giorgi Mamardashvili, Liverpool’s future goalkeeper, is currently experiencing a challenging season with Valencia who sit 18th in La Liga. Mamardashvili has played in 22 games conceding 38 goals, but has managed to keep 5 clean sheets. In Valencia’s recent 3-3 draw against Osasuna Mamardashvili made two key saves to keep his side in the game.

Stefan Bajcetic is also plying his trade in Spain right now and has become an integral part of Las Palmas’ midfield since joining on loan in January. Bajcetic has been involved in 5 games for Las Palmas and has scored 1 goal. Las Palmas’ coach said, “Stefan brings calmness and intelligence to our midfield—he’s been a fantastic addition.”

Will Liverpool be in the market for a new left-back?

Ben Doak has been a standout performer for Middlesbrough, contributing 3 goals and 7 assists in 24 appearances. His pace and creativity have been instrumental in their attack, including a game where he provided two assists in a dominant display against Hull City. However, Doak has not featured for Middlesbrough since the end of January and has returned to Liverpool after undergoing surgery on a thigh injury, which could rule the winger out for the remainder of his loan at Middlesbrough.

Jayden Danns is currently out injured for Sunderland having picked up a back injury during his medical on deadline day, the Black Cats hope for the young scouse striker to return to the grass within the next month and be able to feature in their campaign for promotion.

LFC Women v Manchester United Women

Lewis Koumas has caught the attention of several Championship clubs, including Sheffield United and West Brom, due to his impressive performances for Stoke City, scoring 3 goals in 25 appearances. Despite playing out of position on the right wing, he has adapted well and continues to grow.

Luke Chambers has made 11 appearances for Wigan this season. He has scored one goal and provided one assist in his 11 appearances, demonstrating his ability of attacking play as well as his defensive work helping Wigan keep 6 clean sheets.

Owen Beck has made 24 appearances for Blackburn so far this season, including 23 in the Championship and 1 in the FA Cup. He has scored 1 goal in the Championship, which came in a 2-0 victory against Luton Town on December 14, 2024. Since then he has been in and out of form with Blackburn currently sitting 8th in the championship hoping to make the playoffs.

Kaide Gordon has struggled for game time at Portsmouth due to the club exceeding its loan player limit, which allows only five loanees in a matchday squad. However, he made a strong impact off the bench on March 1 against Luton Town, showcasing his attacking ability despite Portsmouth’s 1-0 loss.

Calvin Ramsay struggled for playing time at Wigan before being recalled and sent to Kilmarnock in January. While he has only made two appearances so far, Kilmarnock sees him as a vital addition for the remainder of the season.

Could Ibrahima Konaté reject new Liverpool contract offer and join Real Madrid or PSG?

Nat Phillips has established himself as a key player for Derby, making 21 appearances for the club since his arrival. His experience and defensive skills have been valuable for Derby as they fight to avoid relegation in the Championship.

Luca Stephenson has been a regular starter for Dundee United this season. In February, he scored a crucial goal against St Johnstone to help secure their first league win of the campaign. He has featured in 30 games in all competitions and contributed 5 goals.

Rhys Williams continues to impress at Morecambe, where he has played 32 games this season. His loan was extended in January due to his solid displays, with manager Derek Adams praising him for improving with every game and gaining valuable experience through regular minutes.

Dominic Corness made his debut for Gillingham in February and has been working to establish himself in the midfield. In his first few appearances, he demonstrated composure and passing ability, helping Gillingham maintain possession in key moments.

Is ALISSON BECKER the best goalkeeper to EVER play for LIVERPOOL?

Fabian Mrozek enjoyed a memorable debut for Forest Green Rovers in February. After a four-hour car journey to join the team on matchday, he kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Dagenham and Redbridge. The Forest Green manager added, “He only got to meet the team pre-match”. Since then he has played 5 games and kept 2 more clean sheets.

James Norris has already played three games for Shelbourne since joining in January. Last week, he impressed in a 1-1 draw against Shamrock Rovers, playing 77 minutes and showing his attacking intent from left-back. Shelbourne manager Damien Duff said, “James is a very attacking, technical player who can help us build the game in many different ways.”

With some of the young Reds out to impress and hoping to make an impact for pre-season and others looking to secure a move in the summer, they’ll be hoping to make an impression during the remainder of the season.

“I’d Love Nothing More!” – Sophie Roman Haug & Gemma Bonner Preview Anfield Clash

By Heidi O’Hare

Liverpool Women are set to face Manchester United Women at Anfield on Friday 16th March 2025 at 7:15pm, hoping to start a huge weekend for the club in style.

This contest is just one of their three big matches of the WSL picked to be hosted at the club’s main ground rather than the women’s usual home ground at the Totally Wicked, St Helens Rugby stadium. The change in location along with the club deep deep-rooted rivalry means all eyes are on Amber Whitley’s Reds trying to get their first win in L4.

Ahead of the match, we spoke to Sophie Roman Haug and Gemma Bonner, the latter of whom stated that stepping out in front of a crowd at Anfield is a “unique experience.”

Eager to please the crowd Bonner also said: “I’d love nothing more than beating United at Anfield!”

The Redmen TV are proudly partnered with Dr. Emrah Cinik

Opponents on the night United have played 15 games this season 11 wins 3 draws 1 loss, with USA goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce keeping 10 clean sheets so far this season, but a game isn’t just won by not conceding scoring goals is a vital part of winning football games and Marc Skinner’s side are not lacking in attacking options.

Some of their main threats to watch out for are Elisabeth Terland top scorer for The Red Devils so far this season with seven goals, and four assists, with 13 games played, midfielder and England youngster Grace Clinton who’s scored 5 in 13 games, childhood united fan Ella Toone with four with two assists in 11 games.

Players such as Elisabeth Terland, Lisa Naalsund and Celin Bizet from the Red Devils are all Roman Haug’s National Teammates making this occasion extra special for her: “When we walk on that pitch we are rivals, we don’t really think too much about that, its always nice to see people that we know and play within the national team afterwards and it’s extra fun when you win.”

Will Liverpool be in the market for a new left-back?

The Kopites so far this season has been mixed with 15 games played, taking 5 wins, 3 draws and 7 defeats so far in this season’s WSL campaign, but their last 5 games in all competitions have led to 4 wins and 1 defeat so Liverpool’s Bonner thinks that this is the perfect opportunity to finish the season strong. “For us, the strength is our group and how we are together that’s one thing I love about being a part of this club.”

Liverpool also boasts a huge selection of young talent including this year’s top goal scorer for the club Olivia Smith, with four goals in 14 games and Roman Haug with one goal and two assists in eight games since she missed out on game time due to injury between October and January, but she’s eagerly chasing Smith for the top spot, creating some healthy competition between the squad.”We just want to create as many chances as we can to win the game which is the most important thing, I’m going to step my game up now.”

LFC Women v Manchester United Women

This occasion at Anfield is a must-see event in the club’s calendar to get You’ll Never Walk Alone blaring as the Girls walk out under the floodlights Sophie Roman Haug stated “We are hoping that a lot of people will come and support us to make the atmosphere here really good.”

Friday 16th March at 7:15 pm, with an incredible attendance of 17,484 this season at Anfield already this season when The Reds faced Manchester City, this fixture is definitely one which could beat this record and set Liverpool’s record attendance for this season.

“Being a Liverpool fan representing the badge and trying to give your best to come out with the best result. The fans are a massive part of Liverpool Football Club, not just in Liverpool but worldwide.”- Gemma Bonner on trying to get as many fans at Anfield as possible talking about how important it is for her as a Liverpool fan stepping out at Anfield.

“One Liverpool Need To Get Resolved.” – Paul Gorst On ‘Authoritative’ Liverpool Man

By James Cranford

Liverpool secured one of their greatest European away results earlier this week, as late substitute Harvey Elliott sealed a 1-0 win over Paris St. Germain.

It was backs-to-the-walls stuff for Arne Slot’s side who withstood a consistent barrage from PSG. The Parisians had a superb goal by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia narrowly ruled out for offside, and were incensed by the decision not to send off Ibou Konaté for a strong tackle on the edge of the penalty area.

Konaté’s superb performances this season have contributed heavily to the Reds’ commanding position at the top of the Premier League, but with only 15 months remaining on his contract, speculation is mounting that the likes of Real Madrid or PSG could try to convince him to leave Anfield on a free transfer. The Frenchman revealed he had been offered terms in the pre-match press conference ahead of January’s fixture against Lille, but an agreement is yet to be reached.

On the latest episode of our Journo Insight show, we asked Liverpool Echo’s LFC correspondent Paul Gorst for his thoughts on Konaté’s contract.

The Redmen TV are proudly partnered with Dr. Emrah Cinik

Paul said:

“He’s certainly having his best season at Liverpool, isn’t he? He’s probably having it at an opportune time, from his personal perspective, with contract talks now underway. I guess he will be able to name his price.

“It was interesting hearing him say in that Lille pre-match press conference that he’d been offered a deal, but was unwilling to go any further on it.

“You could understand why a club like Real Madrid would be looking at him, given his age, his quality, and this new model that Real Madrid have, where they look to get the world’s best players for no transfer fees.

“If we are in the summer months and he’s down to his last 12 months, it’s just rinse and repeat, isn’t it, for what we’ve already said about Trent, Van Dijk and Salah every week?

“It’s one that Liverpool need to get resolved sooner rather than later. We know that they’re being proactive. They’ve offered a deal.”

Will Liverpool be in the market for a new left-back?

Redmen Reacts

It is easy to forget that Ibou Konaté – described as ‘authoritative’ late last year – began this season behind Jarell Quansah in Liverpool’s centre-back pecking order. That state of affairs did not last long, however, and Konaté has been rightly lauded for his performances since replacing Quansah off the bench on the opening day of the season. Given the amount of noise and column inches devoted to the Reds’ high-profile contract issues this campaign, it is vital that we do not see a repeat with Ibou next year. Signs are promising given the man himself volunteered the information that the club have begun negotiations, but his wage demands could rightfully increase with every good performance he puts in. He declared the partnership between himself and Virgil van Dijk as the best in Europe, and even the biggest LFC sceptic would be hard-pressed to disagree with him. A serious offer with wages befitting that of an elite player should be on the table, as the football world knows Real Madrid has a history of signing the best around for free.

Paris Saint-Germain 0-1 Liverpool: Match Report & Ratings

By Leah Bower

A goalkeeping masterclass – Harvey Elliot might’ve got the goal but Alisson Becker won that tie.

Liverpool had a promising first 5 minutes with a few balls over the top for Diaz to chase down on the left-hand side but amounted to nothing.

From the 8th minute, PSG were on top.

Whether it was mistakes from poor balls into an open PSG midfield, or Ousmane Dembélé dancing down the wing, embarrassing Robertson and Macallister.

Dembélé got more and more chances down the right wing to send crosses in which set Vitinha up for a wide shot.

PSG’s corner got punched out to Vitinha and passed into Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who curled the ball into the back of the net, but thankfully for the Reds, the Georgian was marginally offside.

The Redmen TV are proudly partnered with Dr. Emrah Cinik

The pressure kept building and Konate left a little bit too much on the back of Bradley Barcola who got checked by VAR for a potential red card but it was deemed legal.

Alisson earned his praises with a monumental save as Dembélé was in huge amounts of space to get 1v1 with the Brazilian. Alisson got enough on the shot to rebound it to the feet of Bradley Barcola whose initial shot was blocked by Szoboszlai and his second was fired over the bar.

Yet again Alisson came to the rescue after Kvaratskhelia danced through 4 Liverpool defenders down the left to get a deflected shot saved.

Liverpool had a small chance at the end of the half following a corner to land just short of Salah at the back post, but it somehow ended back in the PSG midfield.

Getting to half time felt like a win, Reds fans would have been happy with a 1-0 loss at this point.

Liverpool came back out of the tunnel slightly more switched on, yet the heavy press was still on from PSG.

Alisson was making save after save, setting up counterattacks but still the Liverpool forwards produced nothing.

Will Liverpool be in the market for a new left-back?

Every midfield battle was won by PSG, but Liverpool could not get the second ball.

It slowly turned into a basketball match with Liverpool getting a bit more confident as PSG started to tire and run out of ideas.

Despite Dembélé’s ever-presence on the wings, Robertson and Trent put in an excellent performance to shut down most of what came into the 18-yard box, forcing a lot of long-range efforts.

Slot made his changes around the 67-minute mark and that’s where momentum started to shift.

Nunez created that direct threat to scare the PSG backline, and Jones was able to keep possession.

Dembélé sent a lovely cross in from the right-hand side in front of the goal but no one got on the end of it – only Alisson.

Endo was brought on to solidify the midfield and it felt as though a 0-0 draw would’ve been enough for the Reds after a tough evening in Paris.

Doué curled in an effort from range but yet again Alisson had a huge hand to stop it from nestling in the back of the net.

Elliot came on for Salah, and 47 seconds later, the Reds were in front.

87 minutes in, Alisson sent a long ball down to Nunez, who held the ball up perfectly to send it out wide to Elliot who calmly slotted it past Donnarumma who should’ve got a stronger hand to the shot.

PSG had almost run out of ideas, but Nuno Mendes tried one last attempt as he ran past two players down the right-hand side to fire a cross into the box only for it to be met by none other than Alisson Becker.

Somehow Liverpool came out of possibly their toughest match so far this season unscathed and ahead in this tie, reassured they have the best goalkeeper in the world.

PSG will be rueing every chance they missed in Paris, knowing they still have to travel to Anfield next week.

Liverpool v Southampton: Match Preview & Predicted XI

By Heidi O’Hare

This weekend top of the Premier League Table is set to face the bottom of the Premier League table as Liverpool host Southampton at Anfield on Saturday.

With 58 points separating the sides in The Saints’ first year back in the Premier League post relegation and Liverpool flying at the top of the Premier League, still being involved in the Champions League knockouts and having the Carabao Cup approaching it appears all eyes are on Red’s league run, meanwhile, the South Coast club have only managed to get a result in 1 of their last 8 games

The Kopites and The Saints have met each other a total of 121 times with Liverpool taking the win 64 times, Southampton taking the victory 31 times and there also being 26 ties. Given new manager Ivan Jurić’s side’s lack of form so far this season, now might be a good time for Slot’s side to maintain their 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League, but now could also be a good time for the bottom of the table side to regain form and show that they aren’t going down without at least somewhat of a fight.

The Redmen TV are proudly partnered with Dr. Emrah Cinik

Liverpool and Southampton have shared lots of players down the years so this is a fixture with plenty in the way of familiar faces and intrigue, especially with current Reds’ captain Virgil van Dijk still at the heart of the defence.

Southampton’s squad has also been added to in the winter transfer market by promising young talents like left-back Wellington and attacking midfielder Alber Grobaek on loan from Ligue 1 Club Rennes who may be helping solidify the Saints team and help them find their rhythm, albeit probably too late to muster anything like a survival bid.

Their current absentees, Ryan Fraser, Ross Stewart, Juan Larios and James Bree are all set to miss the fixture due to injury but others like former Red player Adam Lallana, Jan Bednarek, Lesley Ugochukwu, Kyle Walker-Peters are expected to make an injury comeback just in time for the clash.

Currently, Liverpool’s availability is good at the moment with only Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley ruled out due to muscular injuries the Northern Irishman is out for a few weeks and Gomez hopefully going to be fit just before the end of the season, whilst Cody Gakpo missed the midweek encounter at the Parc des Princes.

Will Liverpool be in the market for a new left-back?

Liverpool’s mid-week game to PSG away in the Champions League led to a 1-0 win for the Reds with an 87th-minute winner from Harvey Elliot only 47 seconds after he’d come off the bench against the run of play from fellow substitute Darwin Nunez. The Hero for Slot’s outfit came in the form of goalkeeper Alisson who had kept Liverpool in the game throughout the 90 minutes with a series of impressive saves. Liverpool’s goal came from their first shot on target and second attempt from the game as substitute Harvey Elliott found the bottom corner, by comparison to the Paris side’s 28 attempts on goal. “To go away with a win from here was probably a bit more than we deserved,” acknowledged Slot.

The Saints last game resulted in a 4-0 loss to Chelsea away, Saints boss Juric stated he thought “We did really well in the first 25-30 minutes. We had two big chances with Paul [Onuachu] and we were very competitive with them.” He also did not show any concern about the effort of the team when he stated “After the first half it was almost finished because 3-0 against Chelsea is a lot, but I think the guys gave everything they have in this moment and that’s it.”

Predicted XI

Alisson (GK), Alexander Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsmikas, Mac Allister, Jones, Szoboszlai, Salah, Diaz, Nunez
