The Redmen TV…….an open letter

An open letter to the viewers and subscribers of Redmen TV regarding the break up of the Super League, ownership of Liverpool Football Club and the future of football…. We along with many other outlets have been covering the outrageous European Super League news this week. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support during this time. We’ve felt emboldened and invigorated by the togetherness of football fans around the world and we will continue to fight for what we believe is right. The shut down of the Super League is a battle which has been won but the fight for a football that we believe in has only just begun. We wholeheartedly stand for reforms in football. These reforms need to address a myriad of issues including the distribution of money down the whole football pyramid. Racism in football needs addressing and inequality in all its forms. There needs to be, in our opinion, fan representation on the board of every club in the land. Fairer ticket prices, greater consideration on kick off times and ease of access to tickets for young fans must be factored in. We also need to urgently address the new Champions League format, proposals for an expanded Club World Cup, and the knock on impact on our domestic cup competitions. Hopefully, and perhaps most importantly, we believe in exploring and pursuing something similar to the German 50+1 fan ownership rule. This list is by no means exhaustive and I’m sure there are countless things that are important to us all. With regards to the ownership of Liverpool FC, and the next steps, there will of course be a difference of opinion amongst the Liverpool fan base, but now is not the time to turn on each other. There is a collective feeling that football needs to change and this can be achieved if we all stand together. To that end we will be listening to, and taking our lead from the likes of Spirit of Shankly, Spion Kop 1906, Reclaim Our Game, The FSA and supporter collectives from across the pyramid. This week has shown us that when we move as one, we move with the power to change football, and the world, for the better. This isn’t over and we will use our voice and the platform that you have afforded us to achieve our collective goals. UNITY IS STRENGTH. Paul, Chris, Tom, Simon, Ben, Ross REDMEN TV YNWA

The Kop Chronicles

The Kop Chronicles is a series aiming to remember, inform and celebrate. The likes of Jamie Carragher, Bruce Grobbelaar, Alan Kennedy, Ian Callaghan, Paul Dalglish, Dominic Matteo, Dave Kirby, Peter Hooton, Jeff Goulding, Ian Byrne & John Machin all share their memories of players who shaped the landscape of LFC and the games which added to our renowned history throughout the footballing world.

Kenny Dalglish | The Kop Chronicles | Episode One

Kenny Dalglish is a Liverpool legend. Up there with the likes of John Houlding, Bill Shankly & Billy Liddell for his contributions to this club. In Episode One of The Kop Chronicles, we look at the career of the man who has spent near enough 44 years playing, managing and guiding Liverpool FC – creating the ‘Bastion of Invincibility’ throughout the 70s, 80s, 90s and 00s, that Bill Shankly sought after, all those years ago.

Steve Heighway | The Kop Chronicles | Episode Two

Steve Heighway is one of, if not the biggest unsung Heroes in Liverpool FC’s history. In Episode Two of The Kop Chronicles, we explore the life of a man who brought success on the pitch – by transforming in the winger position for Liverpool, and also off the pitch – by nurturing the likes of Gerrard, Owen, Fowler and Carragher, who furthered our success and added to the storied history that we know and love for Liverpool FC.

Ian Callaghan | The Kop Chronicles | Episode Three

Ian Callaghan is the embodiment of going from the Shankly Era to the pinnacle of football. In Episode Three of The Kop Chronicles, we look at a man who helped lay the foundation of the historic club we have today, and also reaped the rewards at our peak with his 857 appearances throughout the 60s and 70s.

Alan Kennedy | The Kop Chronicles | Episode Four

Alan Kennedy has given Liverpool 2 of their 6 European Cups – the most prestigious and notoriously elusive titles in club football.. In Episode Four of The Kop Chronicles we remember one of the most successful left-backs of all time, in one of the best defences and teams the world has ever seen.

Kevin Keegan | The Kop Chronicles | Episode Five

Kevin Keegan was Liverpool’s first world-renowned superstar, who’s persona could be argued was bigger than the club at the time. In Episode Five of The Kop Chronicles we take a look back at a player who gave 100% every time he stepped onto the pitch and could even be regarded as ahead of his time in terms of his athleticism.

Graeme Souness | The Kop Chronicles | Episode Six

Graeme Souness is arguably the best midfielder and captain that Liverpool FC have ever had, overseeing a prosperous period for the club. In Episode Six of The Kop Chronicles we recount the stories of a hard-man footballer with a cultured side to his game, controlling matches and imposing his will on the opposition to win everything there is on offer in club football and then came back to have a less than stellar time as manager in the early 90s.

Top 5 Young Talents to Watch in Liverpool FC’s 2024 Lineup

New talent is found in every industry. For example, casino games don’t change much (for example, the payout rates in roulette are always the same), but from time to time, new and talented gamblers emerge who, with the right analysis and strategies, achieve “superstar” status. If you think you fit this description, you can test your skills by trying the German version of roulette: Germany is the country where the one-zero variant of this game originated.

It’s the same when it comes to soccer: football clubs are always on the lookout for new stars, and Liverpool FC has a well-deserved reputation in this regard. It is one of the first clubs that comes to mind when it comes to young talent, so let’s take a look at some of the hottest new talents the FC has selected for 2024.

1. Ben Doak

Age / Height

18 / 1.73 m

Position

Right Winger or Left Winger

Nationality

Scotland

Ben Doak is only 18 years old, but he is already being hailed as a future superstar. He has great pace and dribbling ability and is particularly good against defenders. He can create scoring opportunities at any moment of the match. He previously played for Ayr United FC and Celtic FC before moving to Liverpool in 2023. His minutes per goal stat is 254 and he has scored a total of 4 goals in the Premier League. He was added to the UEFA EURO 2024 squad in May 2024 but had to withdraw in June 2024 due to injury. His grandfather was also a famous footballer (Martin Doak), so he seems to be continuing the family tradition.

2. Stefan Bajcetic

Age / Height

19 / 1.85 m

Position

Defensive Midfield

Nationality

Spain

You might remember Bajtecic from Spain U18. He was playing for Celta Vigo Yout but transferred to Liverpool in 2022 and has already scored 3 goals in the Premier League. His minutes per goal statistic is an impressive 627. His midfield control is almost perfect, and he excels in tactical awareness. He missed most of the 2022-23 season through injury but has been active since August 2023 and has impressed in every game. He is the third youngest player to score a goal for Liverpool.

3. Trey Niyoni

Age / Height

17 / 1.80 m

Position

Attacking Midfield

Niyoni caught the eye with his performances for Leicester U18s and moved to Liverpool in August 2023. He has scored 6 goals in the Premier League but his minutes per goal stat needs to improve a bit more, currently only 291. He is the youngest player to have played in the FA Cup and is known for being able to display the same level of skill with both feet – a very rare trait. He has a very balanced style of play and is one of Jürgen Klopp’s latest pupils. At the moment, he is one of the most promising players in the English leagues.

“Looked Like A Mess” – Journalist On Aftermath Of Copa America Semi-Final Involving Darwin Nunez

Following a 1-0 Copa America semi-final defeat at the hands of Colombia, Uruguayan players entered the stands to confront supporters and Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez was involved as the frontman and numerous teammates reportedly attempted to protect their families.

With so much footage circulating on social media, we’ve spoken to journalist Kyle Bonn to attempt to get a better picture of what unfolded at the Bank of America Stadium.

Kyle said: “What I understand from what players are saying, what fans on social media are saying, it really looks like the impetus for this was, at the end of the match the Uruguay players came over, highly emotional, 45 minutes up a man, couldn’t score, eliminated right at the doorstep of the final. They went to get their family from the stands and something happened that players feared for the safety of their family, whatever it was there was family involved.

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK WITH LIVERPOOL’S NEW FIRST TEAM FITNESS COACH…

On the scenes in the stands: “It looked like a mess, that’s the best way I can describe it, a mess. What’s scary about it is that when you have that large a number of fans in that close proximity. It’s scary because you wonder how it’s possible to break something like that up. It just starts to escalate when large numbers of people descend on each other. You see this mass of people moving through the stands and my first thought was ‘How is anybody going to possibly break this up?’. I think that’s why it took so long to sort out.”

On how it finally de-escalated: “It was a combination of people coming to their senses eventually, for better or for worse the players by coming into the stands took the brunt of the attention which I guess maybe took the attention off their families which allowed their families to get to safety or find some space. I’m speculating here but maybe then the players saw their families were out of danger and brought them to their senses. But it took a while, there were a number of pockets of incidents.”

On potential punishment: “The only frame of reference we have is the Eric Cantona incident. I have no idea how this is going to play out there are a lot of factors at play here, and the idea that families are involved might give some leeway. We will see if FIFA gets involved or if CONMEBOL just handles it themselves i have no idea what the fallout will be at the club level for these players but there could be a real knock-on effect.”

On the mixed zone: “We waited for a good 90 minutes and no one came through. I don’t know why but my best guess would be a combination of sorting out disciplinary matters, allowing players to calm down, allowing fans to leave the area before allowing players to exit the premises, and a combination of all those factors. There’s usually a good amount of time but we waited a while and it’s weird that not a single player came out.”

On the CONMEBOL statement: “It says nothing. It says so little I’m surprised. They said we condemn ‘violence of any kind in football’, they didn’t even make any attempt to pinpoint what they were referring to. It was so vague it was actually newsworthy how vague it was.” STATEMENT

Whilst the ugly scenes undoubtedly marred the events that unfolded beforehand, thankfully it appears nobody was seriously hurt and instead, it’s left to wait to discover what the fallout will be from events that have no place in football.

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold returns England’s love-hate relationship to honeymoon phase

While plenty of eyeballs were rolled when Cristiano Ronaldo continued to put himself forward for set-piece duty with Portugal at Euro 2024, the same can never be said for Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Merseyside native may not operate in an advanced attacking role, but he shares many of the qualities boasted by those that function in the final third of the field.

His ball-striking ability is beyond question, whether that be spraying a long-range pass or standing over a dead-ball, and that skill set continues to be embraced by club and country.

Glory

When Alexander-Arnold stepped up to the spot for England in their European Championship quarter-final with Switzerland, few at Anfield will have jumped behind the sofa.

As it happens, the ball was slammed into the top corner with the goalkeeper sent the wrong way.

Gareth Southgate’s side have been cut to 5/2 for those looking to bet on Euro 2024 online, with continental glory within reach.

More tough tests await, but Netherlands vs England odds at the semi-final stage suggest that the Three Lions – at 6/4 – can make it to back-to-back Euros finals and right some of the wrongs from 2021.

It remains to be seen how prominently Alexander-Arnold figures in that quest.

Having been trusted with a central midfield role early on, that experiment was ripped up as England stumbled out of the blocks as a collective.

Southgate then opted against deploying Alexander-Arnold as a wing-back when tinkering with his tactical system for a quarter-final clash in Dusseldorf.

He did end up turning to the Liverpool full-back in an hour of need.

Alexander-Arnold was happy to answer the call, with there no shortage of confidence in his game despite having to once again make peace with life on the bench in an international arena.

While others shied away from the responsibility of taking a penalty in a nerve-shredding shootout, Alexander-Arnold positively embraced that pressure.

He has said of revelling in an opportunity to take centre stage from 12 yards: “It [penalties] is what we practised and they are the moments that I enjoy. When the gaffer told me I was taking one, my belly does not drop. I had practised it so I knew what spot I was going for and I just needed to execute it.”

Few to have trodden that solitary path from halfway line to penalty spot can claim to have enjoyed the experience.

That has certainly been the case where England are concerned in major tournament shootouts.

Generation

Alexander-Arnold is, however, cut from a different cloth and forms part of a new generation.

There was a time when England were almost beaten before a spot-kick was taken – as Reds legend Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher can testify – but that is no longer the case.

Where fear and frustration once reigned, now there is expectation and hope.

Alexander-Arnold epitomises that brave new world as much as anybody.

England may have endured a love-hate relationship with penalties down the years, but they appear to be back in the honeymoon phase courtesy of set-piece masters that boast unshakable belief.
