Liverpool’s entire squad will have a part to play in the remainder of the Premier League run-in and many of them will head to international competitions just weeks after the pressure-filled campaign concludes.

Some of the Red’s stars will be key members of national squads that are favourites to win the European Championships and Copa America this year. They will go from being crucial players at the club level to fighting for history-defining glory at international level.

Here we will look at two Liverpool stars that have the greatest chances of achieving glory in different areas of the world this summer.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Trent Alexander-Arnold had finally established himself as an England regular before getting injured this season. He is one of England’s leading creative players and his presence could prove to be the difference to an England squad that has been nearly men under Gareth Southgate thus far.

The Three Lions are the outright favourites in early football bets on the tournament at odds of 3/1. France is currently lagging in EURO 2024 betting at odds of 7/2, in EURO 2024 betting at odds of 7/2, and the unique technical brilliance of Liverpool’s vice-captain is undoubtedly one of the key factors that gives England the edge over Les Bleus.

Jurgen Klopp’s right-back will likely star in midfield for Southgate and from there his passing ability could truly decide games on its own with the likes of Harry Kane to supply in behind.

England will have their greatest chance to win major silverware since 1966 in Germany and Alexander-Arnold will undoubtedly be present in what could become an all-time great Three Lions team.

Other Liverpool players that will play for the top nations at the tournament include the ever-prolific Diogo Jota for Portugal and club captain Virgil van Dijk for the Netherlands.. They will certainly ambitiously target glory too, but Alexander-Arnold has by far the most realistic hopes.

Alexis Mac Allister

Alexis Mac Allister is another regular Liverpool starter who will play for a nation that is a tournament favourite this summer.
He was vital in his country’s World Cup triumph of 2022 and now he will be an undisputed starter in their push to retain the Copa America in the United States.

Mac Allister’s Argentina are 7/4 frontrunners to win their third major silverware in as many tournaments. With the likes of Lionel Messi and Lautaro Martinez set to accompany Liverpool’s £35 million summer signing they will certainly have the quality to comfortably beat most teams they face.

Brazil will provide the strongest opposition and for them, Alisson Becker will likely occupy the position between the sticks. This means that even if Argentina fall short, a top Liverpool player will still most likely depart the Americas with a winning medal.

Klopp’s wide man Luis Diaz will also fight his country Colombia’s cause in North America, although his hopes of continental success are certainly much more ambitious than his club teammates.

Ultimately, whatever happens in the two tournaments, there will almost certainly be a Liverpool star or two that return to Anfield for pre-season off the back of making history for their nation.
